So sorry, smithtr - don't let it get to you - whatever they said was NOT called for.

Holiday Update: I'm not cooking the turkey because a family member wants to fry a turkey at a local bar while drinking beer. Classy. I've never had fried turkey. Are they bad? It seems silly and unhealthy to me.

So, now I am ordering side dishes if and when I get a final count. :hmm:

Botti, if I don't plan the holiday, family members will plan nothing in advance and expect us to do whatever they demand at the last minute. A lot of passive aggressive behavior.

One holiday, hubby told family members that we weren't attending the family celebration because they couldn't behave themselves. Now, family members behave better but it's under duress. Always a lot of tension. Whee, this will be so much fun! :P

Actually, deep fried turkey is really good. You can add a baste to it to give it added flavor. We usually have a home baste we use with a Cajun flavor to it. Last year instead of deep frying it in grease, we used an infrared turkey fryer. It turned out really good. We will use it again this year for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanks, Dixie. I'm glad to hear that. Hope that our turkey turns out like yours.

Is not greasy either. This what we have this year. Hot oil sear outside turkey, so grease not absorb. Outside crispy, inside tender. Lovely turkey!

I just watched Deaf Jams on PBS - there's no CC. At least there wasn't for me. Thankfully there was enough information that I could get the gist of it. At least they said that AG Bell was audist. If we lose ASL, we loose the language, the people, and the culture. Overall it was good.

If you call and attempt to flirt with me at work... Please put on your pants. If I see your cock hanging out, Ill hang up on you. Ugh. Stalker is back..,

*pulls hair* i hate tmobile. just got a mail from them saying that my application for the service i requested can't be approved..because of my "insufficient" credit history. which is complete bullshit

Use an ATT GoPhone package. You can get unlimited texting for 20$ a month. You can add all the data you'll need for about 7$ a month or so.

No contract, no BS service plans. Etc.

my brother in law first time fried his turkey in CA at his home for thanksgiving with friends. everyone loved it! He said it tastes good. I wish i could taste his turkey. oh well. lol

I have had fried turkey and for me, it was awful. I will stick with my Cornish hens. Not sure what we are doing for Thanksgiving. MIL said last year she would take us out, but I don't want to, so we will see. Never have any family for any of the holidays anymore, so what's the big deal.

I'm going over the hills and through the woods (via train) to my daughter's for Thanksgiving this year. I'm not expecting, and don't "want", anything extravagant.

Thanks for the fried turkey info. I'm relieved. Maybe it's weird growing up in the South and not ever having fried turkey? Southerns like to fry *everything.*

The trouble with the holiday planning is that emotional issues underlie the whole process. It's gonna be a dyfunctional family holiday. I can handle it. :P
