R.I.P Estelle Getty

Aww I had no idea she had passed on. She was so funny woman. She surely will be missed.

She will always be missed. I still watch the golden girls and Estelle will always be my favorite hillarious person on golden girls. She was so full of life and always crack me up. She the best.

"Sophia: Let me tell you a story. Sicily. 1912. Picture this. Two young girls, best friends, who share three things: a pizza recipe, some dough and a dream. Everything is going great until one day a fast talking pepperoni salesman gallops into town. Of course, both girls are impressed. He dates one one night, the other the next night. Pretty soon, he drives a wedge between them. Before you know it, they pizza suffers, the business suffers, the friendship suffers. The girls part company and head for America, never to see one another again. Rose, one of those girls was me. The other one you probably know as Mama Celeste."

"Picture it: Sicily, 1912. A beautiful young peasant girl with clear olive skin, meets an exciting but penniless Spanish artist. There's an instant attraction. They laugh, they sing, they slam down a few boilermakers. Shortly afterwards he's arrested for showing her how he can hold his pallet without using his hands...But I digress. He paints her portrait and they make passionate love. She spends much of the next day in the shower with a loofa sponge scrubbing his fingerprints off her body. She sees the portrait and is insulted. It looks nothing like her, and she storms out of his life forever. That peasant girl was me. And that painter was...Pablo Picasso."

*sings* Thank you for being a friend.
Actually from what I read on another site, she's been essentially in a persistant vegetative state for a few years now. Death was just a formality.

Rest In Peace, Estelle Getty. You were a very wonderful actress, and very funny. We'll miss you.

I just finished watching "Inside Edition" and was  shocked  to learn that none of her co-stars from "The Golden Girls," weren't in attendance of her funeral!

Other speakers at the funeral included Getty's other son Barry, her longtime assistant Richard and "Golden Girls" executive producer Tony Thomas. Her "Golden Girls" co-stars Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan and Betty White were not in attendance at the intimate service inside the chapel at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

The Associated Press: Estelle Getty remembered as funny, feisty, frugal

I knew that they all were having issues at the end of the run but was it that bad?

Awww...I loved her. She always made me crack up. Rest in peac, Estelle. You touched many lives.

Aren't they all about 90? Maybe they were not well enough to attend.

I was watching Inside Edition and they said that Bea couldn't be able to handle the furneal, Rue is busy in New York with the show she is on, and they didn't say anything about Betty but she did sent flowers for the furneal

Betty White (Rose) and Beatrice Arthur (Dorthory) are 86 years old and Rue McClanahan (Blachie) is 74. I recently saw Rue on TV, it looks like she has been ill for some time - she has gained some weights (probably from all the prescribed pills.) From what I remember listening to the girls on the profile story thing on Lifetime channel that the girls kept in touch with Estelle Getty for years before her health worsened.
