I don't know how you do it, but with me I'll go insane, I tried to quit so many times, I just couldn't do it, I would be in my wild mood swings feeling withdraw, so I said fuck it, I'm going up to the gas station and get a pack! :pissed:

I understand how you feel!

I quited cold turkey. And sometimes I could crave for one but my mind said NOOOO! And walk away. It helped for me. Sometimes when i smell someone smoke, it make me sick! Wish you best of luck to stay off! :)

I just quit myself Jan of 2006.. it's not easy, but I quit cold turkey.. no patches nothing.. just stopped buying cigarettes and slowly adjusted to being without em. I hear ya on the needing a cig part. there are days I am dying for a cig.. but I manage and control my urges.. I just think of my future and how i'll be a year from now as a nonsmoker.

Yeah... I agree with you....It is very hard to quit... I used to smoke 3 packs a day.... I cut down to ONE pack lasts me two days.... It is very hard.....
:pissed:

this is like maybe 40th time i tried to quit... prozac and nicotine patch DOES help .... so if u want to try again get patches and ask dr for any medications that stablize the moods or behaviors that allows u to take for like a month or something.... i kept wanting to say i will stay non smoker but i knew i would probably break that promise lol. so im like okay im non smoker for 3 days and is HOPEFULLY going on for 4th day.

I quit in 1998 and can't believe that I ever smoked in this lifetime.

My question to you is: Why are you quiting?

Because you have to want to quit for yourself.

I was at the point where I had to consciously breathe just watching TV, and I was I think still in my 20's at that time and only had 5-7 smokes a day.

I was taking a chelated vitamin and mineral product called FLW, (Formulated by David Rowland) which you really can't find in too many places, the next best thing would be liquid vitamins and minerals - just because they're better absorbed by the body.
(You can find it at Noah's in Canada).

With FLW, being a Chelated vitamin and mineral product, your on a programme of taking 10 pills a day and each container represents a decade of your life. It gets rid of the plaque in your arteries, clean's all the guck like soft soap, but I went from barely being able to walk around 2 blocks into my second month of walking 3 hours a day.

At the same time, I was still buying cigarettes partly because I wanted to - but I just really enjoyed breathing oxygen better than cancer sticks, which they honestly are.

I replaced my habit with drinking tea and buying magazines, up until the time I saw a magazine with Jennifer Aniston on the front cover saying she was crying. ?????????

That was how I quit, as the months passed in that programme (I went through 3 containers - then you just take 2 pills a day after) I just didn't like smoking and enjoyed walking and breathing oxygen.

What they say about you changing when you quit smoking only works IF you believe that!

Prozac or whatever your taking, I'am telling you that stuff is like rat poison!

It's been almost a year since i had a cigs :)

you just gotta put your mind to it and really say no to cigs. imagine yorself saving at least $300 a month...think of what u can do with this extra 300 dollars. Good luck and im very very sure you can do it.

SpiceHD, just think about how much $$$ you are saving by not buying any more cigarettes! And, you know you can talk to me anytime on AIM whenever I am online! Hang in there!

ahhh THANK that I aint smoker since the world began that I born!

I do understand because I'd watching my mom's withdrawal from quit smoking, she hadn't smoking for around three years right now, she had been smoking for more than 20 years or so. But she went to doctor that putting the needles on over face, body, etc then eletric them to relax your muscles and etc from stressful, etc like that. But it does help alot! My mom quitted right after that she recived. Also, I smoked for couple of years but I just quitted by cold turkey out of blue, didn't smoking since when I was 19 years old so it will be my three years also.

I quit in '93. Was smoking about 25 a day. Started on Friday nite, bummed 6 smokes off the mother in law on Saturday, another 2 on Sunday and that was it! All cold turkey.

Left it for a week and hit the turps the next weekend. First night was terrible with bloated stomach and cravings and I still resisted. Second nite was fine and that was it...all over. Haven't smoked since.

I can remember 1 time I tried to quit using the nicorette chewing gum. Mein Herrgott, that stuff tasted terrible! After a week or so, I was chewing gum and smoking at the same time! So I gave the gum away.

When I quit finally, at that point I had had my left lung collapse twice. Even with the catheter inserted in my chest, I still went outside for a smoke. I found out years later that I have the early stages of empysema (caused by smoking), but will not get any worse as long as I never smoke again.

I know I was a diehard addict. Now I don't even want them.

So..... the first week is bad. Then the cravings ease off a bit and if you make the first month after that, you will have a good chance.

Be strong and make some sort of an activity plan where it isn't practical or you don't have the time to smoke. And when you think you're strong enough, challenge yourself- but do make it realistic. Above all, be proud of your efforts...it's a notable achievement!

I have heard of ex - heroin addicts saying it was easier to give up heroin!

I grow up heavy smoking family... including my hubby & sibling as well...

My brother is heavy chain-smoker. He need to smoke when he just wake up ... My sister know his way and gave him cigarette while he going to wake up... Guess what, my brother said... "Happy Year 1990"... on 1st January 1990... my brother said firm to her that I quit... my sister laughed at him... He mean it serious... He is not smoking since 1990... wow... He quitted it with strong willing...wow... My Dad and his wife were like wow when they saw how my brother did... My sister tried but she can´t... like what you all said here.

2 years later after my brother gave up smoking, my Dad & his wife gave up their smoking habit... It work pretty good thru their strong willing and look at negative books about smoking, etc. My hubby was like wow that my brother, Dad & his wife gave up which they are heavy smoker than my hubby himself. My hubby smoke 10 to 15 cigarettes a day... My boys and I helped him to quit smoking because he WANT it... He quitted in April 2004. He don´t smoke ever since... He disgusit when he smell smoking air.... and can´t believe that he smoked in the past...

Its about strong willing then it will helps to quit smoking... think positive why you want to give smoking up...

I am only guy that are non-smoker. I grow up with the smokers. My dad, mom, and brothers. But one of my brothers trying to quit for his wife and daughter. I don't like the cig because of the smell. Smelling is one of my strongest sense.

Just say no to cigerette.

I am non-smoker. I suggest you go to flower gardens or flower shops . Nice smells of flowers may help your brain to 'forget' bad smell of cigarettes

Good Luck and hope made it quit smoke.

PS My health insurance pay everything. Only I pay 15 bucks. Actual cost 116 dollars for one month. This quit smoke program for 12 weeks.

For me, it has been almost 5 years now. When I finally decided to quit, I told everyone I knew that I was going to quit. I went to the market and bought any kind of food that I figured would help me, and loaded up on the Nicorette gum. Then, the last day of smoking, I had about 5 cigs that day, the rest of my last pack. Woke up, smoked one last one, and got busy. Anytime I felt the urge, I popped in a gum. It says to chew slowly, only one piece per hour, blah blah blah. I chewed anyway I wanted, and had a cup to spit into if I had too much nicotine in my mouth. The act of the gum made it easier for me, like having a cig. But it was the ONLY thing I thought about for a few weeks....ciggies. At some point, I realized it was past me. After all, it is just an URGE, and that urge is about 15 seconds in duration. So just keep jumping those urges and start to feel better. And you will feel better. Good luck to you. You will be so proud of yourself when you win this battle.

When I was smoking for 5 1/2 years and decide to stop smoking due 1st pregnant.. I turn it out cold turkey all want best interest for my 1st baby.

Wasn't even think smoking.. until after born.. few months I got nervous and decide going back ciggy again.. *Weak* Met Mr right guy came to my life and trying take me out not even think about ciggy.. Until I realized that I didn't smoke since all the day until I came home and took ciggy.. I made decision and giving up the smoking.. which I DID quit smoking when I was 22 yrs old. I'm very happy and no longer smoking rest of long year.. Now I'm 38 yrs old. *smile*
