Questions and debates about blindness:

i do, but braille cannot be written in print. simple as that.

That's true, although it can somewhat. I know that contractions such as dot 5 6 e and dot 4 6 e can't be written in print, but shortcuts like l for like and ll for little and lr for letter can. Which I use on a regular basis for my class notes. <laughs>

...but sighted people have no idea what those contractions mean unless they know braille. it's like trying to express asl in english. it can't be done.

i wouldn't consider the contractions "ll" for little or "lr" for letter as shortcuts. they are simply short form words in grade II braille.

I only use them for my personal class notes and for IMing with typeingtornado. <wink>

By the way I am saying this all humorously.

nika,

how do you write the following sentence in braille using im?

"do you have any knowledge of what the story was communicating to their readers?"

Hear Again, I'm joking around. I think the humor of my post was missed.

It's not formal or official.

I would probably write: d y h any k of what the /ory G Cmunicating to their r.ders?

I use capital letters for dropped letters (as you see with the dropped G and dropped C for was and com-) & I c't make shortcuts for "er" or "their" in th case b I c use the / for "st" since "st" and / happen to be the same in brl.

I ,k capital G and C don't equate with dropped letters b I j use them for my personal notes. <smile>

you and typeingtornado can get away with doing that because you both can see, but i can't. reading what you've written wouldn't make any sense to me in braille.
