Question

Probably because he travels a lot, moves, etc....something like that would be utilitarian as well as comfortable. Just a guess....

Or sleeps in a minivan right next to his condo. (j-k)

Drive thru a lot of dust?

some people change it so often because it's much cheaper than repair. I change my oil every 2,000-3,000 miles even though the manufacturer says every 6,000 miles.

Not really. It's because his engine also runs his equipment, so it actually runs more than the driving miles show. For the amount of hours and miles that the van runs, and its age, the engine is doing very well because he keeps it maintained.

I went to a full synthetic a few months ago so it is now longer between oil changes.
TCS uses synthetic in his Jeep Commander, and is very satisfied with it.

Has TC ever put in some Marvel Mystery oil in with the regular oil? In the gas?

So am I. My F-150, when brand new, began it's life with a synthetic blend and at 40K miles, I switched to full....

TCS changes the oil in his work van every 30 driving days.

Same here. I used full-time student and full-time job at Chicago and I drove a lot around and very heavy traffic. I change my oil each month and change brake pad each 3-4 months for 3-4 years. Pain in ass. So I moved out Chicago and WHOA! I don't change a oil for almost 4 months and don't change brake pad for over year.

Why you got a minivan? Do you have children and a wife? 10k miles, that's really cool!

No kids, but I use minivan for extra space to travel, camp, fishing, surfboard, bicycle, etc. I never regret it since I bought it last July.

Ahhh, more space to carry your precious cargo. ;) Is it a 4 cylinder or a V6 model? I'm glad they brought back the 4 cylinder model. The last minivan with a 4 cylinder engine was in late 90's, at least in the USA.

Edit: My bad, Dodge Caravan had the i-4 model until 2007 model year. I thought they stopped doing that in the 90's, ha.

4 banger motor in a 2011 Sienna? :dunno:. I still see the 3.3L V6 motors in 2004 Siennas same as Camry/Lexus ES330.

Toyota Cars, Trucks, SUVs & Accessories and check the 2011 Toyota Sienna and look at the specs. It's a complete redesign of the model.

WTF, I dont understand why they use the Tacoma's 2.7L engines. The 2.7L inline 4 banger is not new to me, I saw it in a 2004 Tacoma when I smogged it last time. Good motors, I 've not seen any mechanical problems. Sad news for me and mechanics..... bore to do oil/filter changes. Dang.

LOL, that's probably why they borrowed that motor to put in that minivan due to reliabity is great. Yea, I remember the Toyota Tacoma with the 2.7L I-4 a while back. :) It seems the torque of that motor isn't impressively high. A 2 liter turbo diesel can crank more torque than that 2.7L I-4. :laugh2:

My Sienna is 3rd generation, it comes with 2.7L 4 cyl. No noises compares to 2010 Honda Odyssey. It is very comfortable, and easy handling. I researched multiple minivans with test driving, people's opinions, specs, pricing deals, etc. and the most majority win goes to 3rd generation Sienna.

p.s. sorry about off the point topic ;)

basically if you dont change oil often enough ( i do once a year or every 2 years dont dirve that far) , the oil changes from slunge to grit, and thats not good for the engine it eventually grinds away the smoothness of the parts, and even creates 'resistence' to transfer heat, risking scores or scrapes, hell if get too hot and when oil is 'low' the temps inside gets too hot, the chances of seizure become more likely to occur.

to keep the condition of the shiny parts inside smooth and heat down, and oil's ability to pass on heat from one point to another dynamically, keeping the engine 'flowing' requires changes, not top up, and its best to have it drain after the engine is 'warmed' but not hot, so it drains quickly (and take of the top cap so gravity's/air's weight pushes down the oil more quickly too)...

grits is like red wine's sediments, it sits at the down but to oil , it sticks and making the oil's movement inside the engine to slow, this can also create 'stiffening effect'
alot can go wrong if you dont change oil more than say 3 years apart. More powerful cars, with higher tuned engines is gonna need it alot more often...
hope all this makes sense

yeah, The 2.7L engine use timing chain instead of rubber timing belt. Bad for mechanics. Victory for owners for not spend $$$$ on timing belt and very little
repairs. I've not molesting the 2.7L engines since they introduced. I feel bad and nothing.
I wondered they fed up with 3.0 & 3.3 L V6 engines in Sienna vans cuz of cost of production, put the 2.7L engines and save material weights and try to attract the buyers? I guess so. I love the V6 engines in Siennas that keep me busy and make money.
You saw it at ur work?
