First of all, I don't really care what you Brits think of yourselves.

But I thought... "Is England really a part of Europe?"

I'd say no. David Cameron's decision to quit EU is a typical British thinking. I'm pretty sure that some Brits don't even consider themselves as an European, but BRITISH one.

Burn your comments if you like.

it's purely about money and economy. beside... every country in Europe considered themselves as French, Spanish, German, etc. as well.

You are quite correct about economics. Vaclav Klaus is well known for his quote "European Union is a bankrupt entity".

UK is part of Europe, based on continent, so we are called as American because we live in North America, and for UK, call as European because they live in Europe.

that's not really what EU is about. I doubt these European countries would call themselves as European. Koreans do not label themselves as Asian and neither do Chinese, Japanese, Indian, etc.

If I want to reference as entire of Europe or entire of Asia, so I have use European or Asian, instead of name of country individually.

If I want specify to one country like Japan so I use Japanese.

It will be North American if you point as entire of North America, so I forgot to add North.

If I have to use US, Mexico and Canada at same time, so it is easy to call North America.

ok but that's not what this thread is about.

England is deeply intertwined in European history going back thousands of years. Does that count?

England is part of Europe by continent.

again - this thread is not about geography. it's about EU.... you know - economic union of 27 nations and British wants out.

Ok, for UK - get out of EU require majority of voters to approve, however UK is lesser of EU because they don't convert from pound to Euro. The economy in European countries are terrible, compare to USA.

EU is just like mock-up of American Union.
