question about presentation paper.

Just remember, I must add PM'ing each other if you are a newbie has to wait until your post count reaches 50 --- other wise, welcome to AD.

Im not sure what else to post about. When I first posted a LONG time ago, I was told to put my kid up for adoption. Id never amount to being a deaf parent. Thats why Ive been a lurker.

Sometimes I wish that people could understand how hard it is for me to get into the culture, at least enough to give my children something other than history.
This class isnt even just for interpreting. Im trying to give my 10 yr old answers. Why is that something to be looked down on?

Bottini- when your kids ask you about being deaf, do you give the same responses(like the hostile ones given to me)? Unfortunately for me, I have no other example(like your kids do) but my peers, to pass information to my children. Maybe its unfortunate for YOU, but you are my peer, if we share the same hearing or not we both have to teach our children how to divide thier worlds equally between the hearing and Deaf communities. So why not be gentle on me? Even if you dont agree with me being a student. Im not trying to harm anyone, I dont think any student is. I think we just want to be more educated, which is actually.. should actually be.. a beautiful thing.

Whatever to you and whatever joy you(and everyone else) get out of being a bully.

I know that there is a profession thread. Check that out.

If we answered every query someone posted here, we'd spend all of our time answering questions. And the same questions over and over.

I dont know why I cant find it. I only see education, parenting, debates, news, etc... do you have a link?

I looked for one PRIOR to even posting.

If you have a link, Id appreciate it.

Ask me how gentle the hearing world is to me? No matter how sorry you feel for yourself, it is way worse for your deaf kids.

My kids are adults. They know me, no questions needed. For my granddaughter old enough to communicate I teach her sign. If we are speaking verbally, I say " Look right at me if you speak or I can't hear as I am deaf."

I said the same to my kids when little. It worked fine.

I also showed them the library and made them do their own work in school, pass or fail. To me this was not bullying , just good parenting.

Were you there the other day when the man yelled at me because he couldn't understand me when I tried to tell him something in the store?

I don't know what he was yelling at me, but I do know my husband had to tell him I am deaf and I can't hear myself talking. My feelings for the hearing took another downward turn that day. I cried all day.

Why should I care how well you do or want to help you?

.

I only see you start posting now when you want answers. I dont see any posts like you described.

As we say on another forum, I'm not your research monkey. :monkey: :P

Use the search function for the term "profession." If you can't do that, you need more help than I can provide.

I wasnt sure who to ask. But I wanted to know if I could put up a short questionarre for people to respond to.

Its in correspondance to a presentation that I am doing for deaf people in the workplace.

This class isnt even just for interpreting. Im trying to give my 10 yr old answers.
