So far, no fever nor sore throat. Just a runny nose and the inability to breathe thru my nose. The effects of the Nyquil has finally worn off and I feel a lot better but still stuffy. I hope I am not coming down with the flu cuz I just missed 2 days of work last week to stay home with my sick daughter (she broke out in hives and couldnt stop scratching).

Shel,

Sunshine1 is right about the alcohol being included in the nyquil. It has happened to me when I take the Nyquil. It tends to make me feel so groggy the next day when I take it the night before. It does work great by breathing better or sleeping like a baby but however, if I wanted to take the nyquil - I usually make sure I have no plans for the next day or so because I know I'd be feeling groggy. The funny thing is, When I take the liquid Nyquil from the bottle, I'd be groggy or feels like I've had a huge hangover. However, when I take the Nyquil liquid geltabs, It does not make me feel anything like that. It makes me feel like I'm anew and breathing much better.

I'd recommend you to use the Dayquil which is a day version of Nyquil. Dayquil works great and it does not make you sleepy at all. For me, It does not make me feel groggy or anything like that. So you might want to try that out. ;)

Wow I didn't know that I thought I was getting sicker too....I had the exactly same symptom as she did...I must admit it does help me sleep through-out the night without having to get up in the middle of the night coughing etc...

She is 9 years old. No idea where the hives came from. No fever nor rash. Took her to the doctor and got meds for her and they went away within 24 hours. Weird.

its better to take Nyquil like 7 pm.. then go to bed and wake up next morning feel refreshed from sleepng all night long.. i have took it before and it does made me groggy as i took it at bedtime... next time take 1 TBSP instead of 2 TBSP?? maybe it will lessen the groggy??
it always helped me .. Dayquil have the effect on me like im on HIGH and nervous.. i never liked it but what was i suppose to take as i know they really helped alots for colds and flus.. :(

im using that nyquil for sore throat help me feel better

but im sure kids need advices from doctor's and that not easy for that to read says if can using over 5 years old or least 5 call the doctors or ahead that medicine.

It works for me but it don't work for my husband. It gives him jittery all night long. He acts like he was terrified of something was going to get him. Everybody has a different reaction or tolerance to any kind of medications.

I've never felt side-effects from nyquil, but maybe you are taking too much of it? I usually take 35ml-40ml. (just alittle more than one cap-full). You might want to try taking less when you know you don't have anything to do the next day, see if that helps.

Oh, btw... it DOES usually help me sleep much better when I'm sick, sometimes I even take it in place of sleeping pills if I can't sleep.
