Every time I start up my laptop, I get a msg, "QOEHook.dll not found. Re-installing application QOELoader.exe may fix the problem."

What can I do to get rid of that msg?

I found no help at MS on-line support or knowledge base.

I'm running Windows XP.

It doesn't seem to be effecting anything but it is annoying.

I appreciate any help you can offer. :)

This is why I prefer Linux.

But if it doesn't seem to be affecting anything, I wouldn't bother with it. Then again, I'm not a Windows user.

Reba, I had similar problem about a month ago...it said something dot dll not found...that means the file is missing...I learned that Windows XP pack 2 was damaged so it caused my computer messed up big time plus the spyware detector program caused it too...so I had no choice but had to press F10 for recovery...lost my impt files! :pissed:

Did you call the microsoft software company? If you dont know the number...pls pm me and I will search it for you...good luck!

Is this where I ask questions or give answers if I have any? This is a first time doing a chat or thread or whatever this is called and I feel particularly lost and pretty stupid.l

Reba had asked the QOEHook dot dll question and I have the same problem. There are sites that purport to fix these free but I am totally suspicious of them. ARe the safe?

Am I getting out to anyone on this website?

Thanks for the link. I did check it out but the recommendations there didn't help me.

However, I did solve my problem! I did a little "exploration" of my computer on my own, and got rid of that annoying pop-up and some other long-term problems.

I finally had the courage to try some "fixes". Hubby gave me a 400GB Seagate external hard drive for Christmas. I backed up the laptop's system and files. Then I plunged in with troubleshooting.

I was also able to finally get our home wireless network operating. Now I can print from my laptop downstairs on the printer in our office upstairs, and share files between the PC upstairs and the laptop.

I just did all that yesterday. My next "project" is to back up the PC system and files on the Seagate.
