My family had a 1990 Mazda Protégé SE for many years. In that car, you would put seat down from inside of the car. My family now have a 2010 Ford Fusion. In that car, you have to go through trunk to put seat down.

My ex girlfriend had a 1999 Cavalier Coupe and now a 2009 Corolla. I cannot remember if you had to do it from inside or outside.

Now, my question is based on sedans and coupes only. Would you like to be able to put seat down from inside of car or through trunk? Does it matter?

I don't care as long as the seats go down. We had a car once that didn't, it sucked.

Our family's '77 Ford Fairmont sedan and 1984 Buick Century didn't have put the seat down option. I did not care as I was a kid. My family figured way around it. Now my family like having seat put down sometimes.

I am on my second Camry and I really like the way those folding seats work. You can lower or raise them from inside the car UNLESS a lock lever has been pushed in the trunk. The idea is to keep a valet from being able to get at valuables in the trunk but still drive the car to park it for you (there is a key that works the doors and ignition but not the trunk).

I like the Nissan Cube we bought this year. It is much more practical than a sedan for hauling anything.

When I first read the title I thought you where talking about putting toilet seats back down.

I don't it would matter to me . I had a car and the seat when down but I can't remember how they when down.

My 2000 Honda Civic can put seats down from inside or in the trunk. I lost the key to unlock the rear seats, so have to do it from the inside the trunk, oh well.

I had a 2002 Skoda Octavia (Jetta station wagon, basically) and you could not only fold the rear seats down, you could fold the bottom part of the seat into the footwell so the rear seats were completely flat, basically doubling the amount of cargo space in the back. Awesome!

When I rented a car when I was moving, I asked for rear seats that folded down. The guy offered me a Fiat 500 or a VW Beetle! Turns out the last model of Impala's seats didn't fold down (seriously?). When I explained why I'd asked for that he gave me a free upgrade to a Grand Voyager. At the Auto Show in winter I saw the new Impala and it finally has folding rear seats.

I absolutely want it as an option, it makes the car so much more useful for those times when you need to carry stuff.

I only had one vehicle that allowed you to put the seats down either by a lever in the trunk or a lever on top of the seatbacks.

Since the late '90's, all of my vehicles had seats that only have levers from the inside of the car. My new Focus has levers on the seats only, and the bottom seats flip up to make more room.

Only my Accord has a neat feature where the rear seat armrest has a small door where you can open it and put 6 foot long pieces of lumber through it so you can close the trunk. Honda has some neat features, but they stopped being generous now to cut costs.

In my car, I can pull a tab on the sides of the seats from the inside and drop the seats, whereas my friend's '03 Focus can only do this from the trunk. He didn't even know they could go down, so we had to figure it out.

I have 1996 Honda Accord and I put rear seats down from inside. There are button on top side of the seat.

I fold the seats when I need to load tall things.
