Purple frozen again

What I remember that when using VP-100 installation, VP installer call Sorenson to report that his/her installation is complete and giving out spec. VP installer call through VRS to report information. How long ago was that? 3 years ago? So starting after 3 years ago, VP installer call point to point where deaf Sorenson empolyee recieved calls from trainer to collect information from a clients. So, why is the change? Mmmmm... maybe because Sorenson learned that FCC rules have changed and Sorenson follow the rules 3 years ago that VP installer CANNOT use VRS call. That is how Sorenson earned money and pumping up the VRS minutes. So, Sorenson quickly changed and have deaf employee received the call from VP installer. So, I guess Sorenson is very careful and following the FCC rules.

I don't know if anyone had that experience when someone got first VP-100 installed? VP installer call through VRS? and today do you see VP installer now call VP to VP? Anyone recall that? When was it changed?

So, in my opinion I don't see how Sorenson monopolize the VP products? It's the customers choice that choose VP-200, nothing like AT&T control and owned the landline and force "phone customer" only use AT&T because it's only available in that area. I have an experience where most of the apt complex only provide one type of ISP. Say for example Comcast only. Most of the customers prefer to use Verizon but they can't get it because this apt complex only sell Comcast. That is not fair. So today it changed. most of the apt complex now have both Comcast and Verizon so the customer can choose which ISP they prefer. This is just an example in my opinion. It's nothing like what Sorenson is doing?
.

Sorenson gives out free VP's. The other companies can not afford it like Sorenson can. Result: 85% of market. That's monopoly power. Deaf people like free stuff! (who doesn't?)

VRS should set up long ago but they finally set up like 3 or 4 years later so its their problem. Sorenson technology is too HIGH and TOP. We should not complain because they give a FREE even if you use Sorenson VRS to call any of business such as Comcast etc that FCC will not billed while Sorenson willing to pay with their own pocket because they have about 49 different products so they have plenty of market such as doctor, research, pills, sorenson media etc go on

You are missing the point. When you say "Deaf people like free stuff!" This is what I call "degrading" term. When I say deaf people have a choice, it mean that they decided to choose for their own reason. So, deaf people actually monopolize the VP not Sorenson itself mononpolize. Get it?

Here's good example, I make over $100K job, why I choose Sorenson VP-200?

Yes, I former worked for Sorenson. Last few years ago, clients must use VRS to call hearing people at first when installed new VP. Then clients call to P2P. I had one VP only at home. Now changed, installers must have two VPs at home for personal and business. They use one vp to call deaf people only for business and can't use VRS. They use other vp to call hearing people by VRS for personal.

this is completely bullshit

What s bullshit. You are nothing to follow FCC rules. If deaf VRS provider employees use VRS to call hearing people, NECA (FCC) refuse to pay VRS minutes. They must have two different phone numbers for business and personal. You are back to school.

I'm missing the point? No way! The free VP is how Sorenson got their 85% market share. The others can't compete with their deep pockets. That is exactly why Purple had to borrow so much to keep up. Same thing with Viable. Ryan Commerson's video says something similar although he focuses on ease-of-use, and he has a good point there too.

I don't care if you think my comment is degrading. (I'm Deaf by the way). It is a true statement. Did you miss the "who doesn't" part? Everybody likes free stuff! It was not degrading to point that out. Sorenson was smart enough to take advantage of that quirk of human nature, and the others were left in their dust, frantically trying to keep up.

It is logically impossible to say, "deaf people actually monopolize the VP". That doesn't make any sense. Of course they flocked to it when the VP came out, especially because it was free! The TTY was ancient technology that was long overdue to be replaced. Someday, something new will replace the VP.

Right, trying to remember when Sorenson changed the new policy to have VP installer to call P2P, not using VRS. So I guess it's about 2 years ago. Way before VP installer now require to have 2 VPs at home, one for business and one for personal.

And message for Qwerty, What Chevy saying is true. That VP installer require to have separate VPs at home.

I guess TTY was monopoly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but TTY is not anymore. It was really sad to see deaf people thinks Sorenson monopoly because it is not true. I remmy when I was at Gallaudet and Sorenson has a speech about the Sorenson.. one lady was asking him a question about monopoly then he man who is deaf he answer her question. He said we are not monopoly because they already set up with their own product then another VRS set up too late which they should set it up before not wait 3 or 4 years later do you know why? he said sorenson has alot of loan money from FCC to create the products and they pay off. so whos fault? therefore Sorenson owns 85 percent market plus PURPLE was the one who VERY VERY idiot. They fucked up with MVP and result MVP was not good at all i was excited to have one but when i use it, i was like um ew and very lousy touchscreen then they were like shit shit deaf people did not like it then BAM p3 that is really sad.

Now deaf people will more happy because Sorenson will soon have software program and mobility.

Oh, yeah, what is more. Sorenson is the one largest charity that is why i am not complain :-D You know SLCC building from Gallaudet, Sorenson gave about 7 millions to set up SLCC and if you guys seen it, it was really NICE!

I explained to my mom about this issue, and shes hearing. She said she does not think it is monopoly cause as long as Sorenson charity alot of stuff so its all matter to FCC and government. My mom said she read the newspaper about Sorenson invest jobs program for high school or college students who wants to work for Sorenson, OHHHHH nice nice nice!

Right, My purple company has to require two different purple numbers for all deaf contractors.

Disclaimer: Not saying the Sorenson is a Monopoly. Just going to point out something...

Being charitable does not mean that you are not a Monopoly. Providing jobs does not mean that a company is not a Monopoly. You can very easily be a Monopoly and give money to charities and provide people jobs. The fact that your company is one...means that you have the money to give away and you are growing to a point where you NEED to hire more people... and why not deaf people? Good marketing right?

I'm not saying that they are a monopoly because they were first to market. You're right that it's not their fault if others started later. However, Sorenson became a monopoly through free VP giveaway, requiring users to use their relay so many minutes per month, not allowing other VP's to call to VP-100, etc... The FCC fixed most of those issues only in the last two years. Too late! Sorenson now has ~85% of the market. They are nice and comfortable while all of the others fight over 15%. They are as close to a monopoly as you can get.

So true. I see your point. It is really sad to see another VRS still stuck with it because too late for them, you know. Plus ZVRS and Purple and Viable product come out too late, they should have done that long ago so Sorenson might will not have 85 percent of this market, you know?
