Psychosocial Development and CI

LOl Boult thank you for showing us the whole articles. You post made me laugh though when you said oh heck with it lol. I do agree that when posting articles it is better to either post the whole thing or give us a link to it, as the articles are mostly just nitpicked at to prove what they wanna prove instead of what the article orginally intends.

Well that's b/c parents tend to hyperenunciate what they are saying. The general public doesn't. Some of them do modify their voices when talking to dhh people, but most don't!

I tend to disagree with this statement. A child does better with their own family simply because it is a *voice* or attitude and or body language that they interact with on a daily basis, as compared to in a school setting that they only interact with 6 hours for 5 days a week,9 months out of the year.

Even I, with my hearing aids always understood and socialized more easily with my family than I did with my hearing friends. The reason for that was that my family was more familiar to me and I was able to understand what they were saying more easily.

I agree, families treat you more naturally because they know you. Besides I used to hate it if anyone hyperenunciated with me. I found it very condescending and unnatural.

I agree with you on this statement. It is the same reason that so many children are diagnosed late--parents don't pick up on the signs and the children have learned to read their parents so it would appear that they are understanding through auditory channels.

That's true for me too especially with my mom. She is the hearing person who doesnt know sign that I am the most comfortable with. With other hearing people, I always feel like I have to work harder at communicating.
