PS3 v.s. Xbox 360

120 fps in games is useless because most humans cannot see the difference running at 120 fps. The human eyes can see up to 30-60 fps, depending on human. We'll see the truth when Sony PS3 comes out this fall related to what they said on the list above.

60fps is more likely possible...did you see a picture above the page where the man is using the fan to cool down the PS3 due to heating problems and you see the orange paper on the front of the HDTV says "full HD 1080p-60fps in game."

honestly 120fph seems WAY too fast for a certain system to handle such power like that. I think Sony's starting to go insane...

Some new games that were on Xbox360 will lack online gameplay such as Sega's virtual tennis and Tony Hawk project 8, etc... *shooking head* very pitiful for Sony.

Sega confirms no online play for PS3 Virtua Tennis

Sega Europe has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 version of its popular sports title Virtua Tennis 3 does not have any online features.

The news follows developer Neversoft's recent clarification that the PS3 version of upcoming extreme sports game Tony Hawk's Project 8 for Activision will not feature online play.

"Virtua Tennis 3 PS3 does not have an online mode confirmed at this time," said a statement from Sega.

The lack of online play raises questions regarding Sony's online service for its new home console.

The company last week revealed a range of online features for the PS3, including downloadable content and the ability to play emulated PSone and PS2 titles over the internet.

Sony also discussed the Global Mapping System, which allows users to upload photographs and data about their location and create a detailed view of the world around them - in the hope that consumers can help developers gather information for future game developments.

But with titles from key publishers such as Sega and Activision dropping online features for the PS3, Sony is handing a distinct advantage to Microsoft, in a next-generation battle where online play is becoming an essential - and standard - offering.

Virtua Tennis 3 is due for release in spring 2007 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and PC.

Yes, I saw the picture and that's pretty silly. I think 60 fps max is more likely possible at 1080p, but at lower resolutions like 480p and 720p will probably get higher frame rates which we won't see any difference anyway.

More breaking news for the PS3...gee, is there EVER any other good news at all?

The report comes from Gamasutra:

Report: Japanese PS3 Games Priced at $75 To $84

Japanese news site Impress Watch has suggested that the cost of Japanese PlayStation 3 titles will range from ¥8,800 ($75) to ¥9,800 ($84), an increase attributed to rising development costs.

The Random Tracking editorial, from respected Japanese journalists Munechika Nishida and as translated by website IGN and others, quotes “multiple information sources” for the figures, which have not yet been announced by Sony Japan.

If true, the price increase would mark a significant increase from the average PlayStation 2 game price in Japan of ¥6,800 ($58), although the lower figure is on par with high profile PlayStation 2 releases, such as from the Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy series.

Japanese game prices can vary considerably across even a single format, depending on the title. Higher profile games, such as the recent Nintendo DS title Final Fantasy III, are often sold at an increased price. Similarly, Xbox 360 titles Dead Rising and Lost Planet will be priced at ¥8,379 ($72) when they are released - ¥1,000 to ¥2,000 ($9 to $17) more than usual. Tecmo’s Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 will be sold at an even more excessive ¥9,240 ($79).

The Impress Watch article also has intriguing rumors of plans by Sony to lower royalty costs for independent developers to create games on the PlayStation 3 as an open system. According to the feature, these plans have since been shelved and Sony is attempting to move the focus away from the twin SKU (stock keeping unit) model originally announced for the PlayStation 3.

In his feature Nishida suggests that, in Japan at least, Sony will deemphasize the more expensive 60GB hard drive model in a change to its original business model for the format. The article appears to have been written after the recent announcement of a price cut of the 20GB model in Japan.

...too bad the japanese have to pay more for the games than americans have to because our money have more value than their money does.

Since Capcom's Dead Rising sold like hotcakes for the Xbox360 exclusively, it's rumored that Capcom's next Resident Evil title would also be exclusive for the Xbox360 as well, but I wouldnt be suprised if it still goes to the PS3 as well...even though some developers and customers are already having doubts about the PS3 so it seems to be left with no care and no support due to high price of everything for the PS3.

anyway...here it is.

Speculation over the destination of Capcom's latest Resident Evil horror blockbuster has been reignited, with Xbox Japan boss Takashi Sensui refusing to deny fresh rumours that Microsoft has snatched exclusivity for the game.

The first next-gen instalment in Capcom's lucrative zombie franchise, which was announced for both PS3 and 360 last year, was conspicuous by its complete absence from this week's pivotal Tokyo Game Show, despite being pencilled in for a release by March 2007 according to the Japanese company's own fiscal reports.

Industry chatter at the Tokyo event claimed Resident Evil's no-show is owing to Microsoft tying up a shock exclusivity deal for 360, with an announcement due at the US firm's X06 event in Barcelona next week.

Speaking exclusively to GamesIndustry.biz at TGS 2006, Xbox boss Sensui refused to pour cold water on the rumour when questioned, stating that it had already been announced for Xbox 360 and adding, somewhat enigmatically: "All I can say is we are very good friends with Mr Inafune [the game's producer]".

Capcom, for its part, has not made any suggestion that Resident Evil 5's original status as a PS3 and Xbox 360 title has changed. But the former Sony stalwart has been forging increasingly close ties with Microsoft. Survival-horror romp Dead Rising, a 360-exclusive, recently released to great success in Europe, and a further hotly-tipped Xbox-only title, Lost Planet, is due in January. Capcom is also currently working on a separate Resident Evil title, Umbrella Chronicles, exclusively for Nintendo's Wii system.

Should the rumours prove to be of substance, the securing of 360 exclusivity for Resident Evil 5 would clearly be a massive coup for Microsoft. The series commands a huge global fanbase which would boost its console's appeal in all territories.

Industry watchers today said the onus was now on Capcom to clarify the status of the title in light of the current speculation. A spokesperson for the Japanese publisher was unavailable for comment.

UPDATE: Capcom has already announced that they said it will still go to both Xbox360 and PS3 so it's not really exclusive at all.

Who cares about Japan? Japan isn't our country then lay them off.

I don't like to live in Japan, except for visit Tokyo.

NYC knocks Tokyo down, that true for me. ;)

uh, Tokyo is much larger than NYC :|

Go relocate to Tokyo and you will confuse about street name and district area, that much worse than NYC and good luck with stuck in crowded.

Virtua Tennis Still Online?

SEGA is keeping hope alive for PS3-owning online tennis fans.
by Kathleen Sanders

September 26, 2006 - Today, GameIndustry.biz reported that Sega had announced that the PlayStation 3 version of the anticipated tennis game Virtua Tennis 3 was forced to scrap online features.

However, when IGN contacted Sega they were unwilling to confirm the loss of online play for the PS3 version. A representative for the company could only assure us that the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Tennis 3 will ship with online play while not confirming the loss of these features for the PS3 version. Confused? So were we.

Recently, Sony PlayStation 3's development stalls led developer Neversoft to omit online features from the PS3 version of Tony Hawk Project 8. Neversoft is confident the PS3 version of the game will ship at launch in November, but the development team hadn't received all of the software libraries from Sony and has no indication of how the online components will work on PS3.

Last week at the Tokyo Game Show Sony mentioned goals for PS3's online features like downloadable games and YouTube-esque ability to permit users to share videos, but offered few specifics about how the network would function.

Virtua Tennis 3 offers new online features like "Court Games" which puts a twist on the series' gameplay and mini games, and a multi-set option which lets gamers choose and play up to five sets of tennis.

Versions of Virtua Tennis 3 are planned to ship spring 2007 for X360, PS3, PSP, and PC.

Japan and Europe dislike Xbox 360 and they are wait to get PS3 and Wii but USA like Xbox 360 because it was American game consoles. Spain is one country that have highest number of PS2 and PSP, then would ahead to get PS3.

If Spain loves PS so much then I wonder why X06 (Microsoft's Xbox fan base) takes place there like, *gasp* TODAY?

it's officially, PS3 is cheap than Xbox360 since there is HD-DVD add-in for Xbox. eh... That's too much.

Well, that easier thing to get it. Some people in Spain like Xbox 360 and want play challenge with people from USA via Xbox Live. It was based on their personal.

Not surprised, If MS said that all games will make on DVD ROM then no worth to get HD-DVD add on and 360 can alive with DVD-ROM, also not need for make on HD-DVD or BD.

I rather to get BD movies because of True HD, not Samsung player.

to me for Xbox add-in HD-DVD...It's like Sega 32X o.O

Maybe but that's totally different because 32X is still based on games while the HD-DVD drive is based on HD-DVD movies and MS has never said the HD-DVD would be used for games too.

Wise decision cause if it goes for games too then MS is fucking us, but MS isnt since it's most perferred for "movie lovers."
