proposals , marriages

I have recieved 5 proposals in my lifetime so far - the most unusual one was he sewed the note with "Would you marry me?" and ring to the cloth in a Jack in the Box. When Jack popped out of the box, he was holding a note and ring.

I thought that was the most creative one. The most romantic one was on a horse drawn carriage.

Lovely memories *sighing*

*PS No I didnt marry all of them LOL some engagements failed. Not Elizabeth Taylor here ;)

i wanted to add that i did got 4 proposals. I only married one. ha!

My husband asked me marry him. He made many notes and He put notes on floor and hide a ring. I came home and i picked a first note then follow and picked other note and kept do that until I saw my man with a ring. It was so sweet of him.

Very creative and so sweet!

My ex hubby proposed to me at a park under the moonlight near a pond. It was pretty romantic for a 19 year old to think.

My current hubby proposed to me with my daughter. We were at his work and eating dinner (he was working part time at night and we paid him a visit). I was chatting on my pager while he and my daughter went to get something. They returned and both of them opened the ring box at me. I looked at them like "what is going on?" My hubby said "Will you the honor of marrying this goofball?" My daughter was holding the ring box. It was so sweet.

Awwww! ... :)

I'm all for domestic partnerships. I've seen too many broken hearts due to the legal complications of marriage.

What happens if the couple buys a house and then they break up? Still have some complicated issues to work out with the house and other assets. It is probably cheaper to break up as it costs money to file for divorce but other than that, if the couple owns assets or have kids together, no less complicated .

That's an unusual one ... a novel idea! :)

Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaa! So right of Shel to point that out~that includes boats, motorcycles, cars and you name it. Make sure one of the couple buys it and share it. NOT together until marriage.

Yea...I know of a few people who bought houses together and have broken up but are stuck with the house due to not being able to afford to live on their own or unable to sell the house. My hubby and his ex fiancee went thru a few court appearances cuz of the car they bought together. It was so ridiculous because it took them over a year to resolve the car issue. Relationships whether married or not are complicated! :giggle:

Anyways...remember that proposal at the basketball game in front of all the fans where the woman just ran out on the guy? Now, that was BAD!

The first one was at the jewerly store. That sucks!!!

The second one was at the Elks Lodge during Friday Nite Fish Fry. Just my mom was witness. No romance at all. That sucks!!!

I dont think I want to get marry again.

Not engaged, nor anywhere close to that moment in my life. Proposal? On a stack of haybales in the middle of the summer. I always thought it would be pretty to have a wedding in a vineyard.

On a side note: I think I am scared of the emotional pain of marriage if it didn't work out, that I'd just rather not. I figure I finish college, go to graduate school, join the Peace Corps (do the Peace Corps take HOH?), adopt a child and live near where I grew up. But I say that now...maybe I'll meet someone, but I still feel like my level-headedness does not do good things for relationships. A two days ago, my friends and I heard some screams in the late at night and we went out to investigate and guy was raping a girl. My friends (all male) took care of the solution. Cops were called. Some men, I'm just simply scared of.

being proposed three times in my lifetime (two who loved me but I broke off the relationship.. the third is my husband).. I was excited everytime, and said yes :)

The two I was with, the first one cheated on me sort of..I found out before he actually cheated.. he was on his way to meet someone. The second kept delaying marriage.. and I knew our relationship isn't just meant to be. Delaying marriage is a sign that this person is just not serious about marrying you, or afraid of marrying you and there is no trust in the relationship. I think it had alot to do with my hearing. I think my ex was afraid of actually being committed to someone who is deaf. But I didn't like it when he kept making empty promises "oh, let's just wait til we have enough money" or "We will get marry within six months" etc. but never got down to be serious about it. Then my ex gets mad that I am pushing marriage... well duh, he propose to me, I thought he was serious.

When you propose to someone... you have to really mean it too.. You have to be willing to marry within the next day ...NEVER PROPOSE TO SOMEONE THAT YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS WITH.

Look like he didn't know how to do this properly? Doesn't know when you propose to someone mean you are very serious and want to spend the rest of your life with. He was wrong about that. I am sorry you had to go thru that. :(

When I asked my wife to marry me it was cute not quite romantic.

Put the ring on her cat's collar and said there was something wrong with it. Problem was that the cat was long haired and we couldn't find it for a while. Finally I found it and said... See here is the problem and she looked and started to cry and hid her face. Of course she said yes because we are married. So it wasn't really romantic but it was sweet. She loved it.
