I never hear about necklace as promise ring. I think it is alike best friend promise, not sweetheart steady. so figure
 
Sometimes the ring don't fit so some girls put the ring on the necklace and wear it around the neck. It doesn't have to be this way. Can wear a plain necklace or add some charms. :)
 
I gave to my friend a promise laptop instead ring. We love each other. We are in 21st century. :)

Well . i got the Cowboy's ring in my necklace from someone in Okie .. *winks* never has take it off for almost 2 years in this valentine coming ..

I do have a promise ring which keeps with necklace around my neck which I got it from my first boyfriend (whom got killed by DUI long long long time ago) and after he died. I put it on my necklace to keep remember him. After his death, when I dated and informed that I did not want any promise rings after all. They did not say anything and did not get me.

Yeah that very understandable , and am sorry to hear about your first boyfriend , that you want to keep this memory of him afresh ... smile .. he sure look down on you and want see you happy too either.

I never received a friendship ring, as it is not important to me.

Anyway my two daughters' wearing a friendship heart pendants, it is very popular here to show who is your best friend!!! :roll:

Extactly description but still same called... Claddagh ring..
He said, This is steady ring for you because you're my girl...
few months later... until Valentine day, I recived Engagement ring..

my bestfriend and i agree to wear a necklace or braclet because it depend on how we feel to wear but we agrees to wear a necklace or bracelt or promise rings ... sometime we feel like to wear necklace and change our mind and wear to bracelet then change our mind again to wear promise rings... we always same as signs "best friends with hearts " and sometime we would like to buy more and add more signs ... we already made a promises with our hearts and more trust each other ... we have no problems for a long times ...sometime when i wear a promise ring and the finger start swell or rash so instead to use a necklace or braclet
