Presidential Candidate Says Marijuana Should Be Available For Sale

EXETER, N.H. -- Democratic presidential candidate Mike Gravel told a group of high school students on Sunday that marijuana is safer than alcohol.

Speaking to a group of students at Phillips Exeter Academy, he said that he believes people should be able to buy marijuana in package stores.

"Alcohol is a heck of a lot worse than marijuana, and I'm sure a lot of you have tripped out on alcohol," Gravel said. "It's a lot safer to do it on marijuana."



Gravel has called for the decriminalization of minor drug offenses and better treatment for abuses of hard drugs.

A spokeswoman for Phillips Exeter said that candidates are free to express their opinions.

Actually he supporting legalize the marijuana is because he want to reduce the taxes for the prisons. He think if removing those people who went to prison for the drugs could reduce the criminals staying in the prison will reduce the taxes for the people outside the prison.
 
use alcohol often, it will true damage liver and drunkning driving as dangerous.

use marijuana often, it will true damage brain cell and "drunking" driving dangerous, too.

BOTH should banned.
 
I tend to support decriminalization arguments in allowing small amounts of marijuana to be sold like any other cigarette. (And taxed accordingly!) However, Gravel's arguments, if he really said that, does sound absurd. It is a drug that has side effects and can do damage to the human body.

Actually, his arguement is the comparison between of marijuana and alcohol and other his arguement about marijuana is the numbers of arrests, more criminals in prison, more paying taxes.
 
i dont think so!

if pre-president candidate would think about have drugs than anyone that wrong!

marijuana,smoking cracker,and lots of mores include with drugs they can arrest for drug cases! but police knew what brand of drug they took drug away they threw to jail peroid!
 
But, officer dude, I'm using my pots for the medical reasons! I left my prescription at home!
 
Yeah....Although its relatively benign, it's NOT harmless. It can and does cause psycosis in some people. Plus it SMELLS!!!!!!!!!!!

Prohibition didn't work in the 1920's and it won't work now. If you are going to stop people from using mood altering substances, you would also have to ban many prescription drugs, spray paint, model glue, Pam, mouthwash, cold medicines, and wild growing mushrooms. Don't see it happening.

I am against drugs, But speaking of marijuana I would support that for medical use if the person is in pain that can help reduce the pain. I have seen cancer patients use marijuana (pots) to make them feel less sick when they are on chemo. Marijuana's ability to enhance appetite has led to its medical use to reduce the physical wasting caused by AIDS and to reduce nausea for chemotherapy patients. Oh man if he ever did come to my old school I would have kicked his butt out of school. I am against marijuana. This is absurd. He is hout of his mind and cuzing more kids to get into trouble and waste money to be addicted.. Not only that he is a bad influence there. HYAH!!!

More frequent use

Needing more and more to get the same effect

Spending time thinking about using marijuana

Spending more money than you have on it

Missing class or failing to finish assignments because of marijuana
