You know, a lot of employers favor immigrants because they feel that the immigrants have a better work ethic than Americans. You have to admit, the work ethic in this country is all but gone. Everyone seems to have a sense of entitlement.

I don't believe Amish families are overwhelming the world's resources. They are a minuscule percentage of the world's population.

If they have green cards, they are legally entitled to jobs in the country. There is not much you can do about it.

Most works in dental lab, FedEx, janitor, stock assoicates, cashiers, hotel clerks, and etc. Last month, I truly hated one of my friends from church -- Deaf Indian native's reaction (he came in America from India in 2002) when he asked me what kind of job I work and I told him I don't have one and still looking since almost 4 years now and his reaction was :eek3::jaw: and he replied that when he came here in US and applied few applicaitons, bam he got job working a Target. (He eventually quit later and currently working in dental lab with great pay) He has 2 small children with his wife as well. He smiled at me and asked me why because I should have one because I am U.S. born citiizen. I was fucking speechless at his insulting expression. Another friend of mine, also Deaf she is Bolivian born and moved here a few years ago. She applied for some jobs and she got job after only 4 months applying around.

You could combine the Mennonites and the Amish, and stiil not have enough people to overwhelm.

Like I said, some employers like the work ethic of immigrants. In general, they value their jobs and work hard. Americans don't value their jobs in the same way, and consider a job something they are entitled to, not something they have to earn.

Its not so much the government at work here, but the American worker. They have shot themselves in the foot too many times.

They own the farms and they take care of it as well so they have nothing to worry about.

For instance, the autoworkers. However, the executives aren't without blame either. However, both sides didn't really cooperate too well and got too greedy. It didn't work out too well for both sides in the end. Just look what happened to Chrysler and GM.

Agreed. Execs are not without blame. It is just one of my pet peeves...this lack of work ethic in so many Americans. My father told me when I first started working at the age of 16 to never, ever believe that I was indispensible or that an employer owed me anything. He said, "They aren't so lucky to have you; you are lucky they gave you a job."

No doubt. They can't rely on technology the way non-Amish farmers can. And they have problems with genetic health issues, as well.

We have a large Amish population here. If I want a job done right, I would certainly not hesitate to hire an Amish person to do it.

It would be mighty nice if NY state sets Immigration profiling law just like Arizona established one from last year (or 2009 if I remember correctly?) There's too many illegal Mexicans in Long Island.
