Anyone here from South Florida? I live in Miami and I am having such a great problem finding a deaf group/convention, where I can, on a regular basis, join-in the signing. I have been stuck in the same Sign level that's tired of it - I'm just tired of not being able to meet and make friends who are deaf and hard-of-hearing.

If you can help me, thank you.

I do have major issues getting around. I have no vehicle (only city transport) and most Deaf functions are just way too far for someone without a car. I am disabled too boot.

I would email the Deaf Services Bureau in Miami and see what they can help with. I know my local Deaf Service Center gave me the info about the Palm Beach County Association of the Deaf. It is also where I am taking my first ASL classes starting this wednesday night. They also have the info regarding the buses through the county that are for the handicapped or disabled or elderly. Miami and Dade county may also have something like that.

Kristina, about the buses for the disabled. They don't go outside of Miami/Dade, unless there are burroughs around. But I think what AquaBlue was trying to say is that the meetups and whatever with the Deaf community is too far for the transit system's area. Is that right, AquaBlue?

If you check the links both Jiro and I gave you, you might find something close enough to where you are. Miami covers a really large area and not knowing where in Miami you are talking about, I am limited in how much I can help find links for you.

Looking at your profile and you said, "go away, I am sleeping"... How can you make friends if you said "go away, Im sleeping"?
