I see that, too. Whether the police was there or not, I have to also wonder why the car was there in the first place? Normally when a bike race occurs, there would not be any vehicles (except for police/ambulances) allowed at all in the area where the race route is at.
 
Read carefully - The drunk driver fell asleep. It's going to be very bad if the driver is sent to Mexican prison. we all know he's not going to survive more than a day in it.

that's what he's gona receive at Mexican Prisons. Chance is handful of prisoners are related to bikers - maybe as cousins or brother in law.
 
It was not a race but a family ride. Here's a report with a bit more info:

Valley Residents Killed in Matamoros Crash
A fatal crash happened in Matamoros during a family bicycle tour. Friends of the victims tell NEWSCHANNEL 5 at least 5 people died.

So far, one of the victims was identified. He's 30-year old Alejandro Alvarez of Brownsville. At least 12 people are hurt. Ten of them are in critical condition right now. Several victims were taken to a Brownsville hospital.

Mexican media reports Jesse Campos of Brownsville was under the influence of drugs, when he tried to drive pass a police car escorting the cyclists, and crashed into a crowd of riders.

After an investigation, I'm sure we'll get a more accurate picture of what happened. I wonder how that police officer felt, swerving to protect himself so that others may get hurt.
 
My heart goes out to these bikers

I have been hit by cars on my bike a few times and man, I tell you, it was no fun at all!
