I can't see any photo all of a sudden .

A few of these photos were NOT taken in Chicago-- the first time I've done that this year. They were taken in Kenilworth and Evanston, IL by bicycle. I would have taken more, but where one location was just not safe to do. And when I head to Palatine in 12 days time, I'll be sure to grab a few from there. Not often I get to head up that way.

That is a drawbridge traffic control signal. They have gates, and a bell. I happened to see the bridge being lifted for construction, and siezed my chance.

One of our drawbridge is being done over , I wonder if it will have new lights like that.

Not sure. Those lights have been around forever, although when they renovated the bridges a few years back, they replaced the wishbone gates with more modern ones, and more than likely replaced the lights, too.

These photos were taken last Monday, November 3rd. They are of Goose Island, in downtown Chicago, just southwest of Ogilvie Transportation

Is called Goose Island b/c a lot geese are there? You could get a job as a tour guide and drive people round to see all the interesting sights .

No. It's a neighborhood in Chicago. There's no nearby water in that area for geese to be at.

They got Joe Maddon. I have a feeling that next year the Lovable Losers will be contenders in the very tough NL Central.

No. It's a neighborhood in Chicago. There's no nearby water in that area for geese to be at.

Yeah, I do, too. However, unseating the Cardinals from the top of the Central will be a very tall task, as they've been to the NLCS 4 years in a row, and it wouldn't surprise me if they made it back there again next season.

OK , I was wondering , maybe there was some water at one time and it got pumped out?

No idea. The closest source of water would be the Chicago River, and that's several blocks away. Plus, no geese go down there, and I'm guessing it's because of the train tracks and buses in that area (Both electrical and diseel fuel tracks). I don't see geese in that area very often. It's actually quite rare to see one in that area.

Thank you! That was interesting , 80 acres for $100 , wow that cheap , but I guess a lot of money to some people in the 1800's. It's interesting to know how towns got their names.


I really like the cow .
