phonak H2O - is this a range of aids or a type of aid?

Does anyone know if this is a type of aid or a range of aids?

I read another thread saying that the Phonak H2O has a better water resistant rating then the Siemens waterproof aid even though H2O is classed a water resistant.

What I'm curious about is, if H2O is a type of aid, does it go to profound like 120 in low freq?

Or does the Naida come in with the H2O range and what is the Naida water resistant rating?

Thanks but im trying to find out in relation to Naida UP not the CRT. :)
 
the original Naidas were supposed to be water resistant too, but I think Phonak screwed up somewhere cause mine certainly isn't very water resistant. All I know is the S line Naidas (with the Spice chip) are better water resistant than the originals (pre-Spice).

The water resistent rating is the same in the Siemens Aquaris as in the Phonak Naidia CRT and H2O ranges. The different rating is in the dustproof testing, where the Phonak devices got the higher rating.

Phonak waterproof devices come in both the standard BTE and the Receiver-in-ear (or in Phonak's terminology canal-receiver-technology CRT) model. The The Phonal Naida CRT can be configured as an ultra-power hearing aid by useing the highest powered speaker.
 
The original Naida is resistant to sprinklings of water, like walking out in the rain. The H2O is resistant to running water and temporary immersion so swimming broadly above the water but ducking your head under every now and then is OK, as is running it under the tap. Going snorkelling is not recommended as it's continuous immersion, diving is out because the depth is too much. They are very cagey about where the line is to be drawn, if you can immerse for up to 30 minutes how long between immersions? Technically you could say OK I'll put it under for 29 minutes, surface for 1 second then go back under for 29 minutes.

I am not sure why they have chosen to describe both versions as water resistant when the Aquaris has been described as waterproof, they aren't going to realistically compete with that product because people will be worried warranties wouldn't be honoured if they did in fact swim in them.

The new Naida UP is the same water resistance rating as the old Naida UP, it is ONLY the Naida CRT which has so far been upgraded to the H2O version. Same in the other product lines, only the Cassia/Solana/Ambra M has an H2O, the Nios is already in that product form. There is currently no Cassia/Solana/Ambra P H2O or SP H2O, so although it's across the technology range it is not across the body shape range, it's only ones where the casing is that particular shape.

As it stands any existing or newly purchased Naida UP is rated resistent to splashes and incidental contact with water - rain and sprinklers. It's not rated for someone to chuck a bucket of water at you because they think they are hilarious, nor for some idiot at a party to push you in a pool.

I assume that once they have tested the market with these H2O products they will try to roll it out to the rest of the range, but I believe the UP will be the last to go over, as it needs the most powerful mic, and the mic is the hardest part to waterproof.
 
Phonaak confirmed that the Naida Core and the Naida Spice have different water resistant rating.

They do indeed, but ratings are laboratory specifications, not guidelines for life. The new one is better able to withstand the splashes that the old Naida was rated capable of, but is not resistent enough to gain the next category. Basically, you can walk under heavier rain, but that's not the same thing as an upgrade to immersion-proof. Let's say for example the old one would resist 75% of all accidental splashes and the new one 99% of all accidental splashes, that's better, but it doesn't mean you can do anything you couldn't do before.
