I believe that those businesses do this because they want BIG profits. Nothing new. They aren't the only company to do this. It's happening all over. Companies can't afford to stay the way they were after Obamacare. To stay in business, they need to cut the employee's hours.
Hardee's said they would sell cheaper quality meat to make up for Obamacare.
Changes are going to be made one way or another in order to fight Obamacare.
Why? Does ACA cost the employers more when they are required to provide health benefits? I haven't seen any evidence on that yet.Manga is right, it's the start of Obamacare in a few days... it will start to roll in affecting employers and making cuts. It's not going to be pretty in the next few years.![]()

The health care cost is going up and insurance changes that will affect the employers. We'll see less full time jobs out there.. pensions will be cut. Small business has or will be hurting more.

That's great BUT they increase the premiums way up high in 2014 (I will pay about $60 more per month [used to be about $25 more/mo every year in the past], for some others, about $100-200 more per month, WTF?) so I would say they are still stealing from us.Before Obamacare: Your insurance company could take your money and give you no benefits based on fees and pre-existing conditions. And, there was nothing you could do about it.
After Obamacare: Insurance companies can no longer steal from you and have to give you the services for which you pay.
If being held up by insurance companies(no different than being robbed at gunpoint), makes people feel wealthier, so be it. But, you are not any better off than you were before. The only difference between then and now is that you didn't get sick and the insurance companies got rich. Sound good?

2014 premiums are way out of control. I have the 2014 guide to FEHB and I can see it clearly with my own eyes. Congress must take action against insurance companies which take advantage of ACA to rip us off. Not cool at all.
If I choose private insurance instead of any insurance under FEHB, it will cost me double or triple. Fu*k it!VacationGuy made a good point.
For me, I prefer two choice solution - private (policies, regulation, features are decided by insurance companies) vs. public (like Medicare, regulated and feature controlled by government, income based premium).
I believe that private insurance should compete with public insurance.
From what I hear, employers and insurance will put premiums on smokers making them pay more per month, not sure how much but wouldn't be cheap i suppose.

Isn't that hard to prove? On the application, the smokers can easily state that they don't smoke.
If a small business cuts their employees hours they're doing it because a) they are assholes and just want to and taking advantage of people's ignorance to the law or b) they themselves are ignorant to the law.
