People who just stare at you?

I decided summer weekends at my neighborhood grocery are hell. Kids get summer jobs and they don't know me...

They regular workers know I am deaf and don't bother me. Checking out this weekend a kid checker tried talking to me, and I couldn't figure out what she was saying at all. It ended with her rolling her eyes and giving up..
Then today again , she was in someone else's line talking to the checker working, and rolled her eyes and tossed her head as I rolled into the line. :(

On the other hand a four year old boy gave me a big smile and thumbs up as I left,. I think he liked my scooter.

I would not let that person get to you , she does not know you and does count in your life . The people that are importance to you are all that matter. I bet that kid roll her eyes at most people.

Ahhh...summer is out...kids trying to work...walking around "all pee-cocky"...and their vocabulary is horrid....always rushing/in a hurry...drives me batty...they know everything and we oldies don't know squat....

Yes, it happened to my hearing son who can signed ASL when he was a young boy. He refused to sign in public as people were staring at us. He would rather sign at home instead of in public. But then, when he got older at 30 years old. I came down to New Mexico to visit him from Canada and we went out in public. We signed and he ignored people staring at us. He knows how important signing is. I am very proud of him that he can just ignore people who stared at him. I love my son. :D

:wave:that's a good story how your son changed when he got older now, Bebonag.

Botti, ignorant kids, it's their problem. You got your family and us on here:wave:

If I was deaf and in drivers seat of a car with turbocharged engine at stop light, I would think people stare at me because I've a turbo, not because I am deaf. Some people really are obsessed about stare thing about being deaf. Trust me, they may be stared at for different reasons and not just deafness.
