Something just popped into my mind...

I usually keep a bowl of Tootsie Roll midgees in a bowl in my office area... it lasts longer, doesnt have too many calories (only if you don't eat the whole bowl at once!!) and doesnt get stale quickly.

I remember going to the candy store in town whenever Grandmother had a hair appointment...they had a whole window box display of penny candy such as Tootsie Rolls, Sugar Daddies, candy buttons, Kits, Walnutteos, etc., etc.

I also remember choosing Tootsie Rolls and Sugar Daddies along with Necco Wafers, oh so very carefully...because they would last a long time, they could be hoarded, hidden and doled out very slowly and lovingly...

oh my, oh my!

I better have a Tootsie Roll midgee now!

Yea I remmy back in those days. Candy for a penny. It was so cheap and now it cost 10 cents or whatever. Geez.

Last week I brought Necco wafers and took out the brown and black one out cuz I dont like them but the rest I ate it. Yummy!!!!

I don't want to go back to 1950's prices cos it would mean that we would be earning like 50 cents an hour instead of 10 dollars per hour. Ha ha ha...

I remember riding the bike to the local general store and looking through the candy "bar." The shopkeeper knew that I was Deaf, and she would use body language with me trying to communicate with me. She would tell me "point" "rub on belly (with tongue out)" (as saying that this candy was delicious). I would nod and point, point, and pay for the candy. Then sit outside on the stairs, eating the candy before returning home.

true... ok i wish prices will go back to 1950's time, but pay and wages remains today's cost.. hehe

remmy, those little bottles with the sugar water in them?
remmy too the little saucers that were made out of paper and had sprinkles in them?

I remember penny candy. I also remember when the big candy bars were 25 cents.

Someone mentioned Necco Wafers. I'm Catholic and went to Catholic school for second grade. Ha ha...the teacher made us practice receiving the circlular communion with Necco wafers, and I hate those candies, especially the pink ones, because they tasted like cinnamon flavored chalk. I always hoped I wouldn't get that flavor when it was my turn to practice.

Imagine wanting to spit out the imaginary Holy Eucharist because I didn't like the "flavor".

Yeah Necco wafers always tasted like chalk to me too I didn't like any of them. But I didn't have to deal with taking them as communion practice! :)

Another candy I didn't like was blackjack gum. I don't like black licorice!

I like those candy dots on the strips of paper that you have to peel off.
