Peet Hall or Benson Hall?

Does Gally has underground tunnel like from dorm to school or cafeteria? I found it's no longer to use it? not sure...

Thanks for answering this thread's questions!

From what I observed at others' comments about those dorms from recent past to present, it seems like it's pretty much same like what we experienced back in 80s-early 90s. hmm

I used to live in Krug and Cogswell halls and a short brief of time at Peet hall. I liked both dorms, Krug and Cogswell the better... lot of memories. lol Yep, we had quite lot of false fire alarms... even caught one of my friends who did it but chose not to telltale.

I believe both of those dorms must have aged already by now so maybe we ought to assume someday they would be demolished but wait and see if they plan to. Who knows?

For anyone who wants to focus on studying alone and ignore social life, then choose Peet hall where it's definitely suits those types better. obv! lol

I was one of very few lucky ones that ended up having no roommate at all (twice times) although on my first year I had a roommate at Krug hall. So it was indeed nice and peace.

No

But, in the past many Gally students climbed down a few of the manholes on the campus to make graffiti of their memoirs like Class of 76 and Greek organizations. The tunnels can be reached as far as to the U.S. Capitol from Gally.

Oh really, is 2 new apt are for freshmen students? Where would they sleep when cogswell and krug hall are demolishing?

I do not know for whom the new apartment buildings are because it is too early for me to make assumptions. I think it is safe for me to say that one of the old dorms is torn down first while all the freshmen will be staying in other dorms. Then when the new apartment building is ready for occupation, I think the upperclassmen will get thefirst choice to move in there.

Yep, I was one of them going into a manhole right by the library accessing the tunnels, and one of my buddies created a great graffiti there. We weren't involved with a fraternity at the time but were with the Frog. (Frog - the one we founded this unofficial organization but later was forced to shut it down)

Someone with another guy who weren't with us a that time saw us, caused a fake fire alarm themselves so we had to disappear real fast. Thereafter we twosome took an Benson hall elevator going to the top sightseeing the fire trucks and cops arriving by the library (so quick!) while spotted few others running away. What a sight!

Years later I was told that this graffiti was painted to cover it up. hmm

But we sure made some great and fun memories. shsh

ps. I wouldn't recommend anyone to do the false fire alarm or will be kicked out of Gally without a warning. I assume that the policy rule stays the same nowadays, too.

Wow, I feel that Benson Hall will gonna be dorm for all freshmen, it would make more craziest and tons of parties, also more fire alarm.

Yeah I have friends who have been down in the tunnels. Every college has underground tunnels, including some that are big enough for a person to walk in. Usually they are just for maintenance purposes. Gallaudet has tunnels but they are not used by students. A friend of mine who works in a certain department uses a tunnel every day though to go between buildings. :D

Yes it is a 5-years ban from the campus for this kind of trouble if caught but I know in some cases the troublemakers tend to get two-years ban.

One of my good friend got busted for pulling a false alarm and he was punished with two years ban from campus. He decided not to return to Gally after the ban was expired.

Sorenson Language and Communication Center.

It is located between HMB, SAC, and Benson Hall.

New home for ASL, Deaf Studies, Audiology, and some other departments.

It is not open yet, they are finishing the final touches now, it will be open in a couple of weeks.

It will be open August 25. ;) I saw on Gally online.

Some manholes on the Gally campus are rigged with alarm system. When the heavy steel cap is lifted, the alarm goes off.

The camera on my Blackberry is not working but I will borrow my friend's Sidekick and take some pictures. :)

I will going to Gallaudet University start August 20 for NSO (New Student Orientation). I never use fire alarm no way! I don't want to get ban! I never do that. I am big good man! :D I'm be good boy!

I will let you know for new building and I will look at Architecture. I am good AutoCAD class. AutoCAD is a drafting computer. I love it! I will look at Gally Architecture that I will know and let you know. ;)

Yeah it is right that most graffiti were covered with bland paint. It means some memories are gone.

I love one true story that my friend told me about the tunnel where he got caught along with a few other friends by campus police. Dwight Benedict who was Judicial Board Coordinator at that time, called him along with the caught troublemakers into his office a few days later and he asked them to tell him what happened. He evenly told them of the possible consequences and my friend raised his hand. Mr. Benedict told him to speak up and my friend told him that he saw his name along with his class logo and fraternity name. Then my friend said to him that we should be punished since you did it without getting punished. Mr. Benedict got a huge gulp in his throat and he decided to let them go with a warning.

I hope you will create new thread, says "I love Cogswell Hall aka Ballard North" and tell about what happened.

Is it was bad in 1989 about fire alarm pulling, parties, play too much, etc?

I have one friend that went to Gally and slept at Krug Hall in 1989, it hard for me to remember about what he's said about bad thing at Krug Hall.

Cogswell Hall is used to be all female dorm and Krug Hall for all male dorm? When they converted into co-ed?

1986-87 was the worst year for pulling fire alarms. At Benson Hall where the freshmen stayed, there was 62 false fire alarms in September 1986 only, two false alarms per day! It was where my friend got busted for pulling fire alarm.

I have no idea when they were converted. :dunno:
