patients die of starvation in NHS Hospital

unless they don't let anyone report their negligence (keeping it as a secret) ... America will sue doctors which why there are so many reports. I was a Nurse Aide and they will monitor you like crazy. If you accidental tear someone's fragile skin (some people's skin are so fragile that if you rub it, it get torn. You will get in trouble for it too if you were the one who caused it), you get reported. I wonder how well do they monitor in NHS. I find it impossible to go a day without a single Nurse Aide or Nurses NOT to to be reported. So something is suspicious about NHS having 2 negligence. Do people really believe in perfection???

The patients CAN report doctors´ negligence etc to the public and also CAN sue them to the public as well. There´re no secret if the proof is accurate.

Evidently some appear to believe in perfection. They quickly forget that our health care system is composed of doctors and nurses who are not just medical professionals, but human as well. Mistakes will happen. Not just here, but everywhere. It doesn't have anything to do with whether the system is nationalized or privatized. It is simply the fact that people providing medical care are not gods. They are humans.

Yes, that´s right.

If they have very little report of negligence, it just mean maybe they are brushing off some things as if it is no big deal. (probably why the doctor did not check how the feeding tube is inserted)

Anyway, some people want to put monitor video camera in nursing homes to make sure people will not be abuse but I feel it is very wrong (I wonder if UK do that) because these residents are in their own home, they deserve privacy... so I tell them no way to video cameras, we need more nurse aides instead. the more the better because the higher chance someone will catch or prevent someone from doing something suspicious.

The problems that people criticize about universal healthcare is the same thing as private healthcare. So drop the concern of people's care.

What you should be worrying about with universal healthcare is not the budget-cutting, but rather the wait-time. However in a two-tier system, with walk-in clinics, you don't have to worry about the wait-times for getting assessed by a physician before they defer you to a public healthcare, or if you should be going to a private clinic.

That's right universal vs. private are the same thing so What's the point of gov't takeover if it doesn't make a difference?

Access to care. People with money will still get better care, well at least in Alberta they did...

So if you don't have any money? No worries, you can still get a doctor and good healthcare. We can't promise you that it would speedy depending on the hours you come in...

I know the difference between public and private... Heh. And frankly, I like both. The public one is my safety net in times where I don't have any money offhand.

but access still won't be available.. Rational care will happen, you can deny it all you want but it is going to happen and we will not be able to go back the way it was. First we have taxpayers who will vote in people who don't even care about your health (They don't care about deaf education either, they rather lump everyone in one packet anyway. But In order for you to have everything -- school, health, food, shelter, etc, you have to take every single dollar out of their pocket anyway which will form a Marxism). Then we have people who support even forced sterilization to women who keep popping children (and putting them to adoption) and things like that. Yes, people really do talk like that!

And you have people who thinks think doctors should forget the oath and do what is best for the society in whole and not the patient's need. Like this person: Betsy McCaughey: Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel Wants Health-Care Rationing - WSJ.com

I believe in access to preventive care... like a regular doctor check up or family doctor but not the whole thing.

It's not going to happen because it already happened. Healthcare in the USA is already rationed. It has been for a good number of years.

Exactly.

I am getting seriously annoyed with the Republicans for spreading misinformation and fear on health care to everyone around them. Their party seems to be a party of negativism and fear.

Of course, the Democrats haven't always been 100% straight on this insurance stuff but they haven't done this to the extent that the Republicans have.

As long as we have insurers denying payment for services that are needed, cancelling policies when a subscriber contracts a fatal illness, and caps on benefits, as well as a good portion of our society without insurance and therefore, without access, care is already being rationed. That's what everyone talking about "rationed care" fails to acknowledge. Care has been rationed in the United States for years under our current health care system. The only thing new about "rationed care" is that it has become a buzzword for the ultra conservatives to throw around to try and incite fear.

So, if a patient goes to their family doctor, and that family doctor diagnoses them with cancer, they should not have access to treatment for that disease?

pssst, if you wanna witness what hunger does to you, get a dvd film titled "hunger" its new from ireland, and its harrowing....

On a serious note, that is a very tragic situation, something that was avoidable, but wasn't. I hope whoever is responsible gets locked up.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time this had happened.

I recall significantly the abuses from Indiana State Hospital and the deaths that occurred there, a woman drowned in the bathtub, the abuses, the beatings, all by various staff members and it's medical staffers as well.

But that didn't stop there, just Google it all up and you'll find plenty of horror stories from there.

I believe you.

It is very common in state hospitals from what I have seen and heard (I've visited friends in state hospitals).

The abuse is healthcare is horrifying. Nursing homes, VA hospitals, State Schools. Our local State School was in big trouble for having a "fight club". The patients were taught to fight one another and wagers were placed. The fights were recorded and transmitted. It was a large operation. I am so happy that was shut down quickly.

Obamacare Health care = Science Czar :eek3:

Will it turn into " Euthanasia Bill " just like what happened in NHS Hospital ? Are our hospitals going to follow the same in our country ?

It reminds me of Adolf Hitler's days. He was obsessed in science as well when they tortured Jews. :ugh:

When you have cancer there should not be a wait time. But there was when my mom had cancer. Also some eye conditions can get worse very rapidly so if you are required to wait you could have gone blind by the doctor sees to you.

I think care for the elderly is very bad in UK. That's what impression I get from my dad. They seem to know who they can get away with mistreating.
