Parents want hearing school to get state funding

Even if the child doesnt have full access to the language?

Yep. It's their choice. Hopefully they have weighed the pros and cons to every decision and are doing what is best for their child.

And now we are right back to accepting the consequences of that decision. Decide you want your child to be oral, and they will be placed in a public school system. Want private school, it is your responsibility to pay for it.

They will be placed in the mainstream when they are ready for it, otherwise the mainstream will be way too restrictive.

And the school system decides when they are ready.

Did you ever stop to consider the hypocricy in insisting your child use a language intended for hearing students so that they can interact with the hearing world, and then also insisting that the very choice you made creates a restrictive environment for that child?

The IEP TEAM decides when they are ready.

Like I said, the school system decides when they are ready.

Did you ever stop to consider the hypocricy in insisting your child use a language intended for hearing students so that they can interact with the hearing world, and then also insisting that the very choice you made creates a restrictive environment for that child? And expecting tax payers to foot the bill for your decision?

Everyone has an opinion and arguments have been made on both sides.

This is about deaf children's rights to full appropriate access to education. They should come first.

Who is this directed at? Who is "you"?

Well, since you seem to be so insistent that taxpayers should foot the bill for a parent's decision, it could be directed at you. Or at the parents in the OP. And., after all, just a couple of days ago you stated that the purpose of a child being oral was so they could participate in programs with few accommodations. The mainstream provides those few accommodations. So, your purpose has been fulfilled. Can't have it both ways.

Another mistaken perception on your part. But no need to start with the ad hominem attacks. Just cite the case law you talked about.

The IEP team consists of both professionals and parents, everytime you refer to the team you say "school district" that devalues the parents and their postition as team members.

It's especially odd since they said, "As a parent I want her to have every option available to her" and yet they deny her the option of sign language.

I know that is odd, and knowing how to sign language the child would be able to to sign with other children and she could have more friends . Some people are really hung up about having a child sign. The parents are cutting their child off from other kids.

No it doesn't. The vast majority of the IEP team is members of the school system. Or contract employees of the school system. Be realistic.
