Paralympic hopeful prosthetic legs stolen

That's horrible! Why would they steal his legs? No one else can use them. They are custom made and fitted. :(

I guess that criminal want to break into piece and sell to black market for money.

I wonder if someone wanted to keep the guy out of the race. I could not believe this when I saw it on the news . Yes, it's very horrible .:(
They cost $50,000 there is no way the guy can come up with that kind of money. Hopefully people will help and donate him money to have new one made . I wish I could help . :(

Our son-in-law has a running leg. They are not only expensive, they have to be replaced frequently. They're for running only, not walking or driving.

Oh wow, it looks like we need to catch thieves and interrogate them about what is their purpose to steal prosthetic leg.

I used theory about why thieve steal catalytic converter so I tried to apply this case if it is true or not.

The best solution would be that they find his legs because even if he gets the money, new ones take a long time to make and fit.

I agree , I hope the polices were able to find some fingerprints of the ass**** that stole the legs.
 
Who would do this? Not like they can use them or sell even for any money, but then again, I searched EBay and got 168 items for "prosthetic leg"
 
I am under the impression there is metal in them. Especially the blade type. Could they be thinking of selling it for scrap metal?

Claiborne, who is a certified Prosthetist Orthotist, said each foot – made out of several layers of carbon fiber – costs between $4,000 and $6,000. Thieves stole three.

Claiborne said it doesn’t make sense that someone stole them. They’re made specifically for Peterson. No one else would fit them.

“This is a person’s foot that is based on alignment, shape of it, weight of him. It’s just a very unique item,” Peterson said….

Im sure the metal and conponents could be scrapoed,
Or even modified.
Or he was targeted not for the loot value in the legs,but for personal reAsons...

Indeed chump Change could be had fro,a pair of those things...a quick fix...sure

I knew a guy that lost a leg in Vietnam war and he had a prosthetic leg , it would not had fitted anyone else b/c it was custom made according to his height length of leg etc. I may be wrong but maybe the polices should be checking out other men that are going to be in the race too.
Someone may had wanted his out of the race so they could win. This can of stuff does happen. They could had stolen the other stuff to made it look like a robbery .

They are very light I doubt there is much metal value in those. Probably carbon fiber with a little aluminum Maybe very small amounts of titanium
