"I am for lower taxes, limited government, capitalism, regulation of business and investing, a strong national defense, and individual financial responsibility and accountability. What Obama is doing is entirely the opposite in everything I (and many others) believe and support in. "
So, explain to us how lowering taxes will help our economy when we really depend on taxes for everything from education to transportation? Koko - raising taxes has a stiffling effect. Quite simple. Reduce the tax rates on the highest-income earners and the government gets more money from them. Yet, when you cut tax rates on the middle and lower income earners, the government gets less money from them. Guess who will be taxed heavily next? Yup. Middle class income earners.
We are more capitalisitic than ever. FDR taxed the rich as much as 90% but it paid off well. With those taxes, we built interstate highways and a lot more. Koko - not really. It actually prolonged the depression. More taxes on businesses mean less capital to help create jobs.
Limited government? You're opposed to abortion and gay marriage? So, that's really asking the government to limit individual freedom. Koko - I believe in Federalism. But to have the Federal govt as your nanny isn't the answer which is already limiting your freedom.
Regulation of business? I thought you want businesses totally unregulated. Koko - the key is the proper regulation, not a bunch of red tape.
Strong national defense? We are a strong national defense. Koko - nah. Not really. Almost half of Obama’s budget cuts are to defense. And it'll get worse each year.
Individual financial responsiblity and accountability? Sure, we want them but it won't happen unless the collective takes responsiblity too. It always takes two to tango! Banks got into the mess with us and you think it's entirely our fault? Koko - look no further than Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I am so disgusted with ridiculous loan and credit offers in mail from national banks, even from who were about to go bankrupt!
