For anyone of you who loves outdoor such as camping, rock climbing, and hiking up and down the mountains. What kind of shoes, what brand name and what name of store you got from?

I had the Nike hiking sneakers which is 4 years old that I bought from Dick's store. It was worth around 80 dollars. Now it's gone missing.

So I'm thinking about getting a new one...hiking shoes. I just would like to know about finding a best quality with most low price on hiking shoes or sneakers at what store..but I do not expect to hear a word Wal-mart. Thanks. :)

anything with vibram is the one you should get.

It depends.

Rock Climbing? Five Ten if youre starting out ($90-130) - If youre really good Sportivas. ($130-225)

Camping? You might want boots for that.

For hiking? Salomon, bar none. You will thank me later. (Average $120)

To purchase... I suggest you to go to a professional shoe store and get your feet sized, try these shoes you plan to buy then buy them online. A lot cheaper.

hiking boots would be a good recommendation for general stuff. But not for rock climbing. :)

she'll have to get another pair for that but I think she most likely meant "hiking on rocks"

not the one with harness, ropes, etc.

POH, boots. Yeah, I forgot to add that. Boots are still partly of shoes category. Sneakers, shoes or boots for hiking. Thanks for the input...the prices you have stated is still above my expection. >90 bucks or higher..blah.

If you find a pair of hiking shoes that you really love it would be wise to buy 2 pairs. I Got some hiking shoes and wanted to buy another pairs a few years and the shoe store no longer carry that brand of shoes. It small shoes store and the only one.

This and the fact your feet sweats a lot. Its better for shoes to have 2 pairs and you alternate between them day to day so they can dry up.

Yeah that is true, I have about 5 pairs of sneakers ! I buy a new pair every summer and save my old ones. I like wearing my hiking shoes just for walking too, they give me more support in my ankles which I had strained a number of times.

I just happened to be at Fisherman's Wharf store last night, I found that there has bunch of Merrell's Vibram hiking sneakers/shoes. I liked the one that costs 84 dollars. I haven't bought it yet... I am not going to rock climbling, of course not but only hiking on the trails up and down. My goal is to complete the first two trials: El Captian and Bridalveil trials. Depending on how long will I stay there in area...2-3 days at best. Weather will be nice on next Monday to Wednesday, hopefully the forecast is right. This Sunday will be a chance with showers.
