yeah, besides, wouldn't a full BTE be better than an RIC? I have that severe loss but moved on this year as U can see my signature!
We tried the safaris, but they didn't work for me. I have a flat hearing loss (straight across the board). The only option left that me and my family liked were the Naidia Q's RCI's.
I have the Phonak Naida UPs which have bigger batteries so they last longer.
Maybe your ears are not made out for RICs?!
I have the Q UP's and have a similar problem with the tube to the ear mold being too short. The audi cut that though. I'm returning them otherwise I would have a new mold made and a longer tube. Mine are not the RIC's.

If you really wanted to, you can still replace them yourself. There is a little pin where the wire connects to the aid that can be removed with a clothespin, and then the wire just comes right out like a plug. I'm sure you could find a longer one online somewhere
My mother insists its the perfect length, and Audi agrees. My ears don't...so I'm just taping up my ears. :/
The cost is really a matter of under a hundred dollars, so I would think your audi made enough profit from the sale , she shouldn't quibble about making it comfortable for you to wear.
As for your parents, if they won't get you the longer receiver because it might cost them a little money, it's practically child abuse.
They won't get it because they trust my Audi, not because of the money.
