SkullChick - All observations were made with product on hand I can only assume the product I looked at that day may have been an older model which would have led me to the above Pros and Cons.
Hear Again - My bad the AB had the most electrodes
Thanks both oh you for the corrections I do not want to misslead anyone hear.
No no cochlear have the most electrodes. 24, 22 on the array and 2 on ground, AB have 16 electrodes on array and 1? On ground, medel have 12 and 1? On ground.
Hear again have 18 out of 44 activated due to her dizziness prob, to clear up any confusion.
Phi, cochlear have music program as well.
Med-el have longest electrode array out of other, so it covers low frequency, if you really want to hear almost full frequencies possible then consider Med-el.
But if you don't mind it not covering some part of low frequency because clear speech and great evironment sound outweight the not able to hear some part of lows then yeah AB/cochlear will be fit.
Cochlear electrodes work together not independent like AB but cochlear have ton of sound processing options mines ACE 2000 (ACE is fast sound processing, SPEAK is slow its program early CI user had during their life with spectra/esprit) I forgot what CIS is I know I saw it on computer when my audi was doing mapping.
Most people prefer ACE 900. For me it sound so deep and raspy like everyone is darth vader, 750 sound plucky tone-like sound its funny hearing that. 1,500 is still blah, deep voice and female voice wasn't audible enough for me so hence the speed 2000 for me.
AB electrodes is independent, and it can send 1 electrode at a time, or 2 at a time, its funky. Reason I didn't pick AB is because I wanted disposable option along with rechargeable, led screen (I don't want to rely on number of beep sound to indicate what programs I'm on), having color pink! (I know I know) most reliable implant (I'm accident-prone), self curling array (but Kat's mom, an AD user told me AB have self curling array too just isn't mentioned on the website. But she saw it with her own eyes so)
Phi you can ask your surgeon/audi at evaluation what brand they do and then order online to get package to learn more about each brands they do.
Don't reject med-el too quickly due to their appearance, they made huge improvement this year and the full cochlea coverage option is amazing I didn't think it'd become an possibility for few more years, and I'm positive they'll continue on improving on processor appearance.
