I bet it's a hazard on the road.

I am no expert but I don't think it would be any different that towing in a 5th wheel scenereo. The important thing would be to make sure there is enough re-enforcement at the tow point to carry the weight of the load. As far as manuverability, that VW can maneuver with a trailer better than anything I have ever seen.A trailer like this would be a danger on the road especially in the winter. It's better to tow a trailer from the back and not on the top.
By looking at the video clip, it doesn't look safe.

Perhaps, although I bet the beetle can't make it up a hill with a few people in the camper.
For one, it's unsafe for people to ride in camper while going down the road. If the law remain unchanged since I last knew, unless people in camper can communicate with driver, it's illegal to ride in camper while travelling.
That's the thing, you know people will ride in them anyway.
Then that is their own fault and doesn't matter how or what is being pulled does it?
