Old deaf ranters

I never looked at a deaf person or a blind person or even an autistic person as less than a person because maybe our levels of understanding may be different or communication may be different or our abilities different. But I do respected everyone's beliefs.

I don't see myself as a deaf person or in that culture. I was born hearing and went 22 years with perfect hearing. Now I feel I'm in an in between. I lost contact and connection with majority of the people that I knew and the grow up with. I have found new friends some born deaf or HoH or some in my situation where we lost hearing due to work or just later in life. I don't feel that I have to fit in somewhere. I'm going to be me and proud of who I am regardless of what anyone else thinks.

I've always seen people as people no matter what your background is. I come from a very diverse family so I don't see color or gender to see people. I have two younger cousins that are autistic and nobody my family will hold them to a lesser standard we all hold everybody the same standards. I don't believe in stupid people some people may slower than others or may need things to be explain more in depth but everyone has ability to learn and be apart of society.

I do believe in the Deaf culture, but I feel like as if you need to know the language first!

Why would something be deleted just because people are having a debate about on a topic. Not everyone agrees with everybody all the time this is called a social debate. It's not aggressive or intimidating it was just a statement followed with question. I have seen worse on here through the years.

That is really ashamed everyone is avoiding grandma ,if she was not like this when she was younger she could have a medical issue that needs to be checked. She is still your grandma and you should be trying to find ways to made her feel 'happier ' instead of trashing her . You're really something , you some here and bitch about how rude people are here and you trash your own grandma! I would love to still have a grandma no matter how she act.

Never trashed my grandma not once or family just deals with her on small doses. She is racist for one she never allowed my cousins to play with my sister when we were growing up cause if her skin tone and says her side of the family is superior to my moms side of the family cause of them being more fair skin or white. She stole from us and repeatedly tells people in our family we do not need to associate with anyone that's doesn't believe in what we believe in. We love her cause she is blood but we do not agree with any of her rants or ways.

What is ridiculous about a question. It's ridiculous that no one cause the question in the beginning and finally someone did and they aren't even deaf. Know that's something to SMDH at since a deaf person couldn't even articulate or defend their culture them selves instead just automatically take the defense. Not everyone thinks the way you do nor I so that was the point of the question to get clarity.

I don't see ranting as an age characteristic. If you look around this forum you'll see plenty of young members ranting, and you'll also see older members who are quite mellow.

Face it. Some people take every criticism as a personal affront and love to whine, cry to mamma (Mods) or hit back with rants and personal attacks. It has nothing to do with age or Deaf status.

Age sometimes does reflect lots of life experience and lack of patience for nonsense. Deaf people do express themselves more bluntly and less euphemistically than hearing people but if you're going to associate with the Deaf community and learn about Deaf culture you'll just have to roll with that.

It's also natural for subjugated minorities to use a little more push back as a reaction to long-time persecution. True, it might get misdirected at times but that's American life.

Of course, if you don't want to interact with "downer" people, just ignore them.

As a VA patient myself, I can attest to the frustration of using their services. Some are great but some are a nightmare. Most are somewhere in-between. Just because someone is entitled to VA services or should be getting them, it doesn't mean it happens, especially in a timely manner.

I agree but when it looks like bully I speak up. And yes all ages do rant but if you just ranted in one post why find a similar one or two then basically copy and paste to another post and a few others.

Same with my husband. It is so frustrating with the VA. He does get his services (but after a long fight!); still not perfect. We are enrolling him in tri-care in November so he can use any facility he wants, and not just the VA hospital & clinic.
 
There are times when I really get tired of those that get stuck just posting about what was in the way of treatment of the deaf/HOH and forget to go on to what can be done NOW to keep it from going on or reacurring (sp).

And I respect my grandma but personally I really avoid her since every time she sees me she reminds me how since I have tattoos I will never be educated and will have to rely in section 8 and welfare. That is the first thing she talks about every time she sees me and it won't change. She isn't sick she just is who she is. I respect her but I don't agree at all.
