Oil Painting Went Wrong

They set me up to look bad. If that's the case so be it. I know what I asked for and sent him an 8 x 10 copy of the pic of my dog on the beach.

sad to see that this kind of trivial thing can end your friendship with your best friend. i guess this person wasn't your best friend in the first place after all.

Rio, don't feel bad, you did not get what you ordered. I think the purple and green mountains look strange too. But, since you like how the dog turned out, ask the painter if he can cover the mountains and that tree with like sky. If he can't do that and you really like the picutre of your dog, just have him paint the whole backgroup in solid color.

You know how people can be even your closest friends/family. Nothing at the moment has happened.

It's sadder to see how the father has no respect for his daughter's best friend and that he put his daughter in the middle of this mess . The dad should do the right thing and put his daughter 's happiness first and let the whole go. The dad is the one that has the most life experience and should know that a good friendship is priceless and not destroy this friendship over a
measly $65 for a ****ty painting .
 
Find an artist to do a coverup to do the ocean over the mountains, and then youre good to go. Ask to see some artwork before you let them do the work just so you know they can do oceans. I dont know if its water colors or oil from your post but oil can be doctored, water colors will bleed so need to we "wiped" first.

Do you mean the guy that did the painting needs to fix it?

If so it would look worst than it does now b/c he can't paint oceans. If this was my painting I would had told the guy I gave him a photo of my dog
at the ocean and I WANTED the painting to just like the photo .And if he did not know how to paint oceans he had no business agreeing to do the painting and that he broke the agreement once he putted fake mountains on it.
 
Rio, how skilled are you with a computer? Do you have photo editing software or PowerPoint?

I copied your photo, then used artistic effects (Paint Brush), then adjusted the brightness and contrast. It could be enlarged and printed on high quality textured paper to give it a canvas look.

If you can do your own editing, that's another option for making a nice picture of your dog the way that you want it.

that looks so much better! You're so clever ! It give the photo more depth and made it look opened up . This proves that the mountains do not belong in the photo.

He can't though. Since he told you you don't need to pay and he will just keep the painting, go with that.

Get a different painter to start over, and just forget about this one.

There isn't any reason for you to keep it, since it is not what you wanted.

And maybe he can sell it at a flea market or something, to someone who just wants a painting to hang on the wall.

One of the students at work is an artist. She said, it wouldn't be a problem to paint over the mountains and she would correct it. She will charge me to clean up this bozos mess

I have another painter. She said, ask him to lower it like the highest price $40 and this lady will work with the pic if he accepts otherwise drop this whole painting and move on.

True. New painter uses acrylic paint. The dog is already done in oil paint. We will see , if the man agrees ,$40 top pay we will do the make over if not pass this painting and start over. The new painter will charge $90 to fix it. To make a new one the size I want $120.00 and get what I want.
