how's about Olive Oil (Extra Virgin oil) Is that good ? sometime i use cook'em.. cuz part of europe using those... avoid use butter cook it..

I took your post as quote from my thread "Soduim"...

Here is my answer...

Yes of course, Olive Oil (Extra Virgin Oil) is the best quality... I know that quality... Yes that´s right it´s common of Europeans use Olive Oil for cooking and also salads too... but to my taste... olive oil is not good for salad... :barf: We use other oils (see my first post) for salads, not olive oil... But fry meat with olive oil is good taste... mmmhhh

Have you try to dipping bread with olive oil... mmmhhh... Just pour olive oil on the small bowl for dipping bread... I would recommend to use fresh Greek for dipping with olive oil.

Oils and fats: butter, olives, olive oil

I am using this to make my salad interesting, French, Italian - some are 100% fat free !!

I like to buy Virgin Olive Oil to frying my french fries, and little on meats, sausage etc.

Sometimes I buy Peanut Oil, Sunflower Oil and Vegetable Oil.

Sometimes I would melt butter to fry if I run out of oil!!

Lard or shortening is not popular here.

I use Canola/rapeseed oil for mostly for frying.

Peanut oil for stirfrying.

Olive oil for frying and salads.

Butter to make grill cheese sandwiches and Salmon patties.

I use butter to make pancakes, grits, on baked potatoes, crab legs, toasts, macaroni cheese, and things like that.

I used olive oil sometimes in food cause of healthy.

I never used peanut oil and lard.

And salad, I don't use oil, I only use thousand island or ranch dressings.

That's about it.

:eek3: ~ surprise High popluar In North America who prefer use Veggie Oil and Buttery and lard too tends to cook'em any kinds foods depend their own cookings.. I wasn't realized that...

I did prevouis used to be Veggies Oil or Buttery.. until stopped few yrs ago.. Which I've learned the foodtv showing on.. Mostly useful Extra Virgin Olive Oil... and kept cooking any kinds which it's healthly light.. will not effect FAT! Seems Pretty quite interesting awful lot information coming form foodtv and other showing too.. Impressive.. I've fall in love w/ Extra Virgin Olive Oil all the best.. of course I know it's extreme expensive to buy it.. But worth it.. suitable for healthier!

Salad.. I don't cook'em.. Just wash'em up and fresh toppings on the top of salad... addy low fat dressing: Italian dressing.. :D

We use olive oil for dipping dipping and cooking.

We use various dressings for salad. I prefer vinagrettes, and Hubby prefers creamy dressings like ranch.

We use peanut oil for deep frying turkey.

We use butter for some cooking, baking, and spreading (toast, waffles, baked potatoes, etc.).

We never use margerine or lard.

Yes, it´s true that Extra Virgin Olive oil is expensive but they are very good quality... I only buy them with special offer. I have Italian or Greek olive oil... they are also good quality as Extra Virgin Oil as well...

You mentioned that you use Italian dressing for salad... Check and make sure either there´re soduim in dressings because soduim are including any dressings... that´s why I don´t use any dressings but oil and vingera to add salads.. It´s common in Germans to use oil and vingera for salads... Tamara love my bavarian potatoes salad and rice salad... I use oil and vingera, not dressings because I know they have sweetner, flavor additives, soduim...

I've been tries Bavarian potatoes salad.. but failed.. tasty not right..

Searched recipie but mostly not right.. Too many vary recipies their making...

i use butter than oil.. cuzof more fat less more better than oil... but sometime i use olive oil...

My receipe for Bavarian potatoes salad (thanks to my mother in law)...

Barvarian Potato Salad

2,5 pounds potatoes, unpeeling
1/2 cup hot vegetable broth soup
1/4 cup sunflower or Thistle or Rapso oil (if you want to try olive oil but to me, olive oil for potato salad is not good taste)...
2 tablespoon lemon vingera or herbal vingera
1 onion, chopped
iodine salt and pepper to taste
Chive or parslay and chive and parslay..

Steam unpeeling potatoes in little water until tender. (If you have a steamer). If not, then use saucepan to boil unpeeling potatoes until they are tender (not toooo soft)... Leave hot unpeeling potatoes until they are warm then peel and sliced 1/4-inch thick. Chopped raw onions, salt and pepper to add on warm potatoes... Mix like salad on potatoes gentle...

Pour hot vegetable broth soup into potatoes, then add oil and vingera ,then herbs...

For family serve 4 to 5...

I would recommend you to try unpeel potatoes in the steamer. It taste better.

Good Luck... :thumb:

It's depends what I'm cooking, for frying something, I would use either butter or Olive oil ... and for salad I do not put either of them on.....

I mean any salads like potatoes, rice or pasta salads, green salads, etc...

I also use homemade mayo on pasta salads, sometimes potatoes but most bavarian potatoes salad to serve with filet meats or fishes.

Yes, I know Americans use mayo on any salads because I have american co-workers to do mayo salads... Now I see this forum here that most use dressings or mayo on salads... Interesting...
