Oh my God !!

LOL.........Greema, it's actually kinda cool hearing from an old school lady......I probaly would have chewed on the hearing aid cord too.

Whoa... reminds me of my old hearing aid I had when I was a kid.

Remmy the old skool auditory trainers? UGH!!!!!!!!!!! I HATED THOSE.....those were pretty much akin to the body worn aids...........complete with those ever so sexy harnesses!

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think there are more then several stupid people out there. Yeah, people in general are really dumb!!1

How true! I have had people react in surprise when they find out I could drive! AND (you better be sitting down and hang on to your seat) I even had one woman who reacted when she found out I could drive and then was even more surprised I had four kids and I was pretty snippy and said yes, even deaf can f@@k like you people, okay??? :pissed:

(psst DD, it wasn't me who chewed on my hearing aid cord -- I believe it was BG -- but when I was a little girl going to Sunshine Cottage in Texas, my mom was giving me a hair cut and she accidently cut my HA cord! She forgot to remove my HA cord and mold!)

My boyfriend went to Sunshine Cottage.

My boyfriend went to Sunshine Cottage.

Lucia, that is way cool! And Boult had gone there too! I was really surprised that the school was still in existence -- guess that proves how good of a school it is, right? (I have a burning question but will PM you)

Awesome, and yes, the school is still open. My boyfriend goes to the alumni meetings sometimes. I will look for your PM. :)

i remmy chewing on the cord when i was young.. lol..

funny what you said when people asked is that baby blue tooth?? gosh.. stupid people, indeed! guess they were not informed about that .. hahahhahaa.. lol!

Frag, your statement is very true. People are more aware that being deaf is nothing to be ashamed of. When we picked out the CI for my daughter they asked us if we wanted to get it in tan so it will not be as visible. We told them that we wanted it in silver. At Lillys young age, she has already shown that she really doent care what people think about her. Our tought was that we should not bother trying to hide the fact that she is deaf. When she was wearing HAs, we got the earmolds in hot pink. It is her favorite color, so of course we are going to chose it.

Badass. On the day I converted, I asked my son what color he wanted his BTE to be, he wanted it to be black. My wife thought it was tacky but I difused the situation by telling everyone that it is exactly what he wants from the 3 available colors.

Now that the mini BTE is out in a variety of colors, we picked silver with a blue plate. His favorite color is red (it was out of stock at the time) so I know eventually we will be ordering a new BTE in red or a new red plate

Plus our kids had been getting ear molds in colors for so long... they could choose up to three colors in camoflauge style.

In fact, if I got a CI, I'd love for my BTE to be either green, orange or yellow.

I have never seen the types of hearings back in 1920s to 1940s. :ugh3: They look horrible and I can't believe they had to wear these. There's one picture in 1944 from Aurex, CA looks frightening to me because it looks so explosive. :ugh3:

Very interesting site... thanks for sharing Kalista.

I used to have one of those old strap-on hearing aids when I was a kid. My mom improvised by un-sewing a pocket from the seats of my overalls and sew them to the front. That way, I had a nice nifty little pocket on the front for my hearing aids and looked better than those annoying white full-body straps. ;)

Been there with full body worn aid during late 60's SUCKS! I hate them, and I hate stupid speech teacher! I think she had done good job damaging my mental toward to hearing world! Sorry, with all of these abuses, I have to say :madfawk: at hearing world! If had she not abused me in any way, then it may be different story. Anyway, full body worn aid looks really like somebody who is lunatic and having C4 bomb on their body! Yike!!!! Thanks for reminder of that stupid cord I had chewed it all the time, til the steath wornt out it taste even worse! I remembered that.

For me, I don't get any clue what sounds s all about! It is like just black and white to me. I still can't image how they can discriminate sounds! So, I have always been DEAD DEAF and DAMN proud of it.

I think that body worn HA is died in early 90's or so.

I had big huge analog BTE HAs when I was little...
Visualize...
Cute little girl...with big honkin' pieces of plastic at a 90-degree angle on both sides of her head.
