Hm. Yes.

My greetings to you kind folk. I just moved up here from LA last August where I studied ASL for 3 years (along with other useful things and whatnot). Anyhow, back there I had many deaf friends- but here I don't, and I don't have anyone to really practice my ASL with.. Not that that's my reason for Googling this forums site, but I thought I'd just mention it for some reason..

Anyhow, enough of my ramblings..

And so- I am not new to forum sites, but I am to this one.

welcome to the forum! have a great stay from one former californian to a new northern california ( former santa rosan myself :) )

and since summer is coming and school is getting ready to close you should go check out california school for the deaf fremont and ask around where the locals hangs out there is a starbucks deaf night in the city on market street ( oh lemme explain what i meant by in the city.. its the heart of San Fransciso) and then we have the San Jose Deaf Starbucks nights every first of the month geminicat can attest that for me, and then for the oakland ca. theres quite alot of events going on, and don't forget to check out VISTA college where there is students who also are learning ASL who might have more insights for you, don't worry by the end of this month you won't be alone anymore :)

Oh, yes! I've attended Deaf Nights at Starbucks in LA before. It was a part of our class, too.

I tried Googling events and / or organizations in Oakland, but I'm not having the greatest luck. I was looking for deaf children's organizations. I teach after school art classes and was interested in a deaf children's organization around here.. but I need to keep looking.

Oh, nice. My boyfriend is from Seattle (and moved to the Bay Area 2 years ago).
We're going to take a trip up there and to Vancouver later this summer.
