Okay, I've noticed how many of you have different beliefs and opinions of what the Bible or any other so-called doctrines say.

Here's my question...

If God or an angel of some kind from any religion appeared before you and ordered you to do something that was against your normal belief, would you do it?

Would you hate?

Would you lie?

Would you steal?

Would you kill?

Would you abuse?

I've asked these questions to some of my friends and they usually answer in several different ways...

"No way, cuz God wouldn't ever ask a question like that."

"If God says so, then 'yes'. Because it's to be done."

"No. I wouldn't do it."

What's your response?

I have faith in myself and my own thoughts and beliefs come first so if God asked me to do any of those things, I would say no. I would have to live with my conscience for the rest of my life knowing I did such terrible things.

that seems to be most popular choice among fanatics these days.

The lord wouldn't ask this of anyone, so this isn't an issue. Or shouldn't be.

As long as it follows the Qur'an, I will do it. If it deviates from it, I will not. What if it only appears to be an angel but it is really Satan? It will not be God because I will only see God on Judgment Day. ;)

Would you hate?

Hate the wicked but never hate blindly as God has decreed.

Would you lie?

Who has not? I try not to but if it puts my existence at sake, then I would have to. Lying to hurt others or in any other deceitful ways is against God's laws.

Would you steal?

No, not even if I saw a hundred dollar bill fall out of someone's pocket. It goes against God's laws.

Would you kill?

No, killing is a terrible crime and goes against God's laws.

Would you abuse?

No, transgression is a terrible crime and goes against God's laws.

No, I wouldn't

Would you hate?

Hate is a strong word. I could say I dislike some people but hate them outright? No, I wouldn't.

Would you lie?

Who hasn't? I only lie if I feel threatened or when I feel like I need to get out of a serious problem.

Would you steal?

No, I wouldn't. What is the purpose of that if I could just buy something I need.

Would you kill?

No, I wouldn't. Killing is immoral.

Would you abuse?

No, I wouldn't because again, that is immoral.

I would find it odd that any person who has faith in the Lord would assume this is not an issue.
In fact, an individual who believes in the Bible would have to agree that God has in fact asked one of his followers to do such a thing.

Abraham was asked to sacrifice Isaac. Now some will claim that Abraham knew that God would never let him kill his son, but the truth of the matter is Abraham went through with it. Abraham took the knife and raised his hand to kill his son. At the last minute, an angel of the Lord prevented him from doing so.
God stopped him. God stopped him because Isaac would have died if God didn't intervene.

If an angel appeared to me?
I would pray I would have the discernment to be able to tell if it was real in anyway. Wouldn't want to be in that situation though. Don't know what I would do... I'd be pretty freaked out.

I am not sure what you mean by normal belief.
In my expierence as a Christian, I have never met God or an angel as no one ever met God in person. So really I don't think there really an answer to that question.

I have known God from my own experience, God never harm me. Those questions are man thinking, not God's. Impossible for Him to ask us to do loveless things. Devil, sure he would ask me those questions.

But, what if an angel or God told you to kill... would you still do it?

God's law says not to kill, but God tells you to kill. Therefore, he's contradicting himself.

So, it's not a matter of what God's law is... but what you personally believe to be ethically and morally right.

Questionable. Then again it could be a test of your faith.

God's law says not to kill, but God tells you to kill. Therefore, he's contradicting himself.

No, he is not. You are pulling the law out of context. Good job.

So, it's not a matter of what God's law is... but what you personally believe to be ethically and morally right.

It is not a matter of what fragile human beings' laws say. The laws superior over fallible human beings are God's laws.

That's why I said "IF"...

Let's look at the government. They have laws. Yet, some law enforcers break the laws themselves.

Vampy, your "IF" question is a contradiction in terms. What angel or Christian God would tell someone to kill someone else? It's unthinkable.....

Ditto.

If I don't believe it would happen, what use is there contemplating. Why would my G-d go against all I hold true in ordering I do -any- of those things?

Actually, it is thinkable.

Think about it, God made Satan. What makes you think he's "all good"?

What makes God all good? It depends on the intention of his creation of Satan. Do you know why he created Satan?
