Obesity/overweight

Lately I have been on a Tomatoe and Green Pepper rampage, buying home grown tomatoes that are really meaty and green peppers, dipping in Pepper Ranch or Ceasar Dressing. Also Steamed Broccolli has made some awesome meals lately. Cooked 10 pounds of broccolli last night for a snack and still have some for tonight.... But whooo, the byproducts are rancid...lmao.
As for Corn, why does it go in and out looking the same? I chew that stuff like a cow in the pastures and still ends up expelling in whole kernels?

Oh wow, I bet you pass a lot of gases.

Yep us southerner (I'm from the south but no longer live there, thank gosh) really love fried food! We deep fry everything and smother it in butter! LOL

I love banana pudding but I'm allergic to banana's now...an allergy I developed from pregnancy...pregnancy does some strange stuff to ones body. Now I can't stop thinking of Cajun fried chicken, mashed potatoes, greens and cornbread...(Does the Homer Simpson drool) and peach cobbler to top it off...a la mode! I think I gain 10 pounds just thinking about that. LOL

I'm only 106 pounds and my doctors told me to gain some weight, maybe I should make some soul food!

That sounds like the meals I used to have. My aunt used to make orange biscuits. Mmm, peach cobbler, banana pudding, cornbread, baked beans, don't forget the rhubarb pie and real butter. I can't stand milk with a % in it and real ice cream is so much better. Guess I'll have to enjoy some hot, slightly hard, apple cider with a cinnamon stick without you this fall.

I thought my friends were kidding when I was in TX and they ordered gator bites. They were good, so yeah, we'll fry about anything down here. I think Wile E Coyote should fry Road Runner if he catches him. He just looks too skinny to be any good slow roasted on a rotisserie like he does in his dreams. :hmm: Pit BBQ would probably be better.

I went to a place today and got a turkey sandwich (grilled filet not slices) and they put cranberry sauce on it with lettuce and holiday secret sauce. It was like a mini Thanksgiving.

Maybe that will help you gain some weight?

I like red peppers , the green bell peppers you buy in the store are unripened
red peppers.

Ok, you keep a green pepper and see how long it takes to ripen one, because when it is RIPE, you wont be eating a RIPE one guanteed !

* Green, Red and Yellow peppers are all completely different.
Green Peppers are bitter
Red and Yellow are sweet

And if you let them hang on the vine long enough they will stretch and you will have bananna peppers as well wont you?

I grow gardens, I know.

Oh, and the 10 pounds of broccolli...that was for the family to share, just had leftovers tonight...mmmmmmmmm good.

You could part of reason there is a hole in the Ozone. Do you have to sleep with the windows open??

I'm 120 lbs and have no intention of dieting or eating healthy until after my birthday. Still waiting for my cake to be frosted....:hyper:

Green bell peppers turn red if left to ripen on the plant. We have been growing gardens for many years.

The ones that are red early are a different new variety.

No cider for me means no cider for you... :nana:

I love those kind of sandwiches, I make the during the holidays...that sounds soooooooooooo good. I will be glad when I can chew again. :dance2: My poor face is still puffy.

Yes green bells turn "reddish" but still not the same as RED bell peppers, otherwise why do they sell red bell pepper seeds if they are just green peppers? Completely different tastes and any gardener will know that.

Kinda like an old Aussie joke about Boomerangs...

What do you call a Boomerang that doesnt come back to you?
A stick.

So it can look like a Boomerang, throw like a boomerang BUT if it doesnt work like a Boomerang....its just not the same is it? :hmm:

Here is something to ponder...

I talked to a farmer about all the veggies and stuff, her is his input as to why people are so unhealthy today, and think about this....

OVERPOPULATION !!!!
The land has been Farmed out, all the nutrients in the soils are gone because of the constant supply needed over and over. Thats why people today need vitamins and minerals suppliments because the plants are not getting them from the soils anymore... Yes they use fertalizers to help the plants grow and cur weeds/bugs infestations but its not supplimenting the plants/soil or us.

The "bell" peppers you usually see at the market are green when not mature and red when ripe.

http://postharvest.ucdavis.edu/produce/producefacts/veg/full_bellpepmaturity.shtml

The yellow and orange peppers usually are "bell peppers" but another variety of pepper:
Peppers - Vegetable Directory - Watch Your Garden Grow - University of Illinois Extension
http://www.tomatogrowers.com/sweet4.htm

Sweet peppers
Sweet green bell-shaped peppers are the most popular garden variety. Left to ripen, they turn red, purple, orange or yellow and gain various levels of sweetness depending on the variety. Although the paler green and yellow tapering varieties have more flavor, all sweet peppers are similar in flavor and texture. They are crisp and refreshing raw, and pleasantly assertive when cooked to tenderness.
Green bell peppers are a main ingredient in Louisiana Creole and Cajun cuisine as well as Italian and Mediterranean cooking. Peppers can be harvested from July to October. They are delicious in the green stage, the sweeter ripe stage or anywhere in between. Due to the short Chicagoland growing season, many sweet peppers never reach full maturity/ripeness.

and there are several varieties, it is not from the same green pepper, all are green but the greens will start turning to black and rot, yes they get reddish along the way.
the others turn their colors , everything is green starting out...Tomatoes are green, yellow/orange, then red, then they rot..
some are round (Beefsteaks) some are oblong (romas) just a general idea of being the same only different ( different in tastes as well as texture and size/shapes) now we have cherry and grape tomatoes... nowhere being alike, Now are we gonna argue that grape tomatoes are the same as a roma? yes they are red but will never taste like anything else in the family of tomatoes nor reach that size. The different peppers are in the same family but a whole different plant all together.

It looks like crap, you might be better off just taking vitamins. BUT are you looking for protein shakes to help build muscle considering you've been working out? You should look for a protein shake, whey isolate protien is best right after a workout because the protein is absorbed very quickly.

This is the stuff I use, I get it at Costco. I don't mix it with water though, it's nasty. I get the vanilla flavor and put it in the blender with almond milk and a couple frozen strawberries (I like it COLD) or sometimes I do it with the almond milk a tablespoon of decaf instant coffee and couple ice cubes.

It's really pretty hard to get in enough protein, especially when you are working out a lot. Are you doing mostly cardio, like running on the treadmill, or you are lifting weights? If you are lifting weights it's really important to get in enough calories and protein so you can build the muscle and not just burn it. Protein shakes before or after working out is very helpful for that.

yes Almond milk :D I'm lactose intolerant, that means I'm allergic to milk:D. So no milk, unless I want to have lots and lots of very smelly farts. I used to drink Soy milk, but I switched to Almond a few months ago. I love it!!!

Oh and I was in a hurry earlier and forgot to put in the link for the protein shake mix I use. I edited the post to add the link :)

Okay so you are working out to lose weight, you're not doing a lot of weight lifting....body building. Weight training mixed in with cardio is a really good way to lose weight, because the building of more muscles makes you have a higher metabolism. A higher metabolism will help you burn more calories and lose weight faster :) Just make sure you don't cut your calories too much, and make sure you get enough protein. Good job!!

The green peppers in the market are not the same that the red peppers/yellow or orange ones come from... FACT, My buddy works produce...
Next time you are there look at them, the greens are twice the size of the others, different species of plants altogether, The greens that turn red, ect... have a totally different taste... Why do you thing those green are 50 cent and the reds/orange/yellows are $1+
Me, I dont need to waste money on them, got my own free. Grew up, worked on a farm, slaughtered my own bacon, picked my own eggs... throw me in a forrest and Ill survive... plenty of Military knowlege from friends and family, scout, as well as experience... eat some bugs, some plants...not all that bad, set a trap, got a full course meal at hand. Nominate me for survivor, so I can put em all to shame, yet I cant hear shit...lol
