Agree that "anti-" is a silly? How interesting.... You use "anti-" a lot in different threads in the past... ? :hmm:

<sigh> that's why I keep telling you to read posts carefully......... It's a response to Karissa's post about RELIGION as in... anti-[RELIGION].

in case you didn't notice - Arabs are not especially friendly with us for past several years.

Of course, I know. Since Obama is now President, don't you think that Arabs will start bein' friendly with him ?

Are the Arabs and Indonesians friends ? Allies ? What foreign countries the Arabs are friends with ?

who knows? Why don't we find out? Are you afraid of Arabs or something? don't you want to be friend with Arabs?

Are the Arabs and Indonesians friends ? Allies ? What foreign countries the Arabs are friends with ?
why? what does it matter to you? Indonesia has a very large Muslim population so I assume they are friendly to each other.

Reba, I know what you are trying to explain... I am not saying that you are wrong... but I want to say why I use "Muslim" OR "Arabs" because they consider themselves differently. Islamophobia is in my mind when I want to ask a question about, not Religion.

Some Turks, Arabs, and Africans are Muslim, some are not. Some Turks, Arabs, and Africans are Christian, some are not.

Yes but Muslim people who lives in Islamic countries are not allow to turn into different belief than Islam because it belongs to Muslim world. If they want to turn into Christianity or other belief than Islam then live in non-muslim countries, not Islamic countries.

If a person is a Muslim, that means his religion is Islam.

If a person is a Christian, that means his religion is Christianity.

If a person is a Jew, that means his religion is Judaism.

If a person is a Buddhist, that means his religion is Buddhism.

Those are religious groups.

Yes, if they want to consider themselves what they want to but it doesn't mean that they have to follow their religion. If they want consider themselves as Muslim and follow their own Islam belief then is fine...

Example, a person told me that she is a Jewish but don't follow her religion but consider herself as a Jewish. It does the same with my Turkish co-worker who consider himself as a Muslim when he don't follow his religion.

If a person is a Turk, that means he is from Turkey.

If a person is an Arab, that means he is from an Arab country.

If a person is a German, that means he is from Germany.

If a person is an American, that means he is from the United States.

If a person is an African, that means he is from the continent of Africa.

Those are not religious groups.

Of course I know... I already said "Turkish", "African", "German" , etc. which mean they are the people. They would answer where they come from if I ask them where they come from. Turkey, Africa, Germany...

A person's nationality is the place where they were born or currently live as a citizen. It's not a religion. There is no country called "Islam" or "Muslim."

I think you don't get what I am trying to say...

If I say that I have been visited to Islamic countries which mean is Muslim world where the all Muslim people lives and their culture and customs.

Islamic definition - Dictionary - MSN Encarta

Relgion doesn't come in my mind when I use those word "Muslim" to debate, share my post or question someone.

I hope this helps to make it clear. :)

Yes, I know what you are saying... but I am hoping that you know what I am trying to say something differently...

<sigh> that's why I keep telling you to read posts carefully......... It's a response to Karissa's post about RELIGION as in... anti-[RELIGION].

"anti" is "anti"...period.

Anyway, Remember, nobody attack someone for anti-*religion* here...

what about Bush? Both of Bushes and their friends (like Rumsfeld) are friends with them. Rumsfeld shook hand with Saddam. What's up with that?

rumsfeld_saddam.jpg

Well, was Saddam a Muslim or Arab terrorist ?

Bridges were burnt down before Bush.

Think of the past terrorist attacks. Not just the 9-11
So you can not JUST blame Bush for their hatred towards the USA.

It wasn't all Bush Jr's fault, but he certainly added fuel to the fire.

Most Muslims are from the Middle East

Just thought I'd mention that the Middle East does not hold the majority of the Muslim population.Indonesia is the country with the largest community of Muslims.

Well, was Saddam a Muslim or Arab terrorist ?

Saddam is a Muslim or Arab but not a terrorist. Remember, terrorisum has nothing do with Muslim itself but person itself.

Saddam Hussein did not attack west countries (non-muslim countries) to make a war... See the picture of Saddam with Rumfeld shook the hand each other during Iran-Iraq war time... Saddam and US support each other to attack Iran...

I also wanted to mention that I have Muslim family members. Not all Muslims are extremist or "bad" or even think their own religion is the most correct. My Russian and Indonesian relatives are Muslim, and they are actually quite peaceful people, too. In fact the word "muslim" comes from the Arabic word for peace--"salaam." The root is in the consonants: muslim and salaam. So the original philosophy of Islam (same root--Islam) is based on peace. And then some people decided to twist it for their own purposes, just as some fundamentalists have done with Christianity in the U.S.

:ty: for fresh my memory about Indonesia... yes, that's right...

Yes, Muslim people are very friendly... I have many Muslim friends here who acts like Germans.

I visited their countries - oh very friendly and lovely people... I really cannot image why that people fears and discriminate against Muslim since 9/11... it doesn't mean that all Muslim are terrorist... It's really sad to see more and more Islamophobias are around here... My opinion, the politicians and medias are responsible to brainwash the people to be Islamaphobia toward Muslim World....

My opinion, if anyone torture innocents to physical/death are terrorism...

Of course, I know. Since Obama is now President, don't you think that Arabs will start bein' friendly with him ?

Why not?

To make sure there're no more Islamophobias around because people from the whole world including Muslim world should relax...

From dictionary.com:

Arab
a member of a Semitic people inhabiting Arabia and other countries of the Middle East.

Muslim
–adjective
1. of or pertaining to the religion, law, or civilization of Islam.
–noun
2. an adherent of Islam.

Islam
–noun
1. the religious faith of Muslims, based on the words and religious system founded by the prophet Muhammad and taught by the Koran, the basic principle of which is absolute submission to a unique and personal god, Allah.
2. the whole body of Muslim believers, their civilization, and the countries in which theirs is the dominant religion.

That is, an Arab is a member of an ethnic group. Most Arabs are Muslims but not all are.

A Muslim is a member of the Islam religion. Most Muslims are from the Middle East, which includes Arabs but they are not all Arabs, and they are not all from the Middle East. Any person of any ethnic group can become a Muslim.

Therefor, Arab and Muslim are not the same meaning.

Some Turks, Arabs, and Africans are Muslim, some are not. Some Turks, Arabs, and Africans are Christian, some are not.

If a person is a Muslim, that means his religion is Islam.

If a person is a Christian, that means his religion is Christianity.

If a person is a Jew, that means his religion is Judaism.

If a person is a Buddhist, that means his religion is Buddhism.

Those are religious groups.

Muslim people follow the Islamic religion.

Christian people follow the Christian religion.

Some Turks are Muslim, some Turks are Christian.

Great define about between Muslim and Arab, Reba. :)

I have nothing to against on Arabian and Muslim.

I'm against on any countries that have limited to Islam only, such as Iran and Saudi Arabia and any laws that considered to be under religion, except for some parts and I believe some Arab countries like Saudi Arabia need let people to believe in different religion and improve the human rights.

Iran isn't part of Arab but they are Persia, known as Persian for people.

For me, I don't like views of Muslim due my personality but they are different and just respect their belief as well.

Not all Muslim countries has limited religion to specified like that, such as Turkey, UAE, Egypt, Malaysia and Kuwait.

Just thought I'd mention that the Middle East does not hold the majority of the Muslim population.Indonesia is the country with the largest community of Muslims.
Yes, I should have included Indonesia, and some parts of Africa and Asia. I guess I was too focused on the Middle East region because of the "Arabic" topic. My bad. :whip:

what the <beep> are you talking about??????????????????????

Are all Arabs bad people?

I have friends from the Middle East...does that make me a terrorist?

me too. My good friend is a family member of Oil Ministry in Bahrain and he hates "Jews" very much because of Palestine situation. Does that make me terrorist by association too?
