FOXNews.com - Obama Gives Brits Free Pass on Oil Spill While Lashing Out at Congress, Tea Partiers

President Obama on Saturday reassured Prime Minister David Cameron that his frustration over the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is not an attack on Britain. .................

................But Obama sang a much different tune to Cameron on Saturday when the two leaders held a "warm and constructive" telephone conversation for more than 30 minutes, Cameron's Downing St. office said.

Cameron's office said the prime minister “expressed his sadness at the ongoing human and environmental catastrophe,” but stressed BP's economic important to Britain, the U.S. and other countries.

Then Obama told the prime minister "that his unequivocal view was that BP was a multinational global company and that frustrations about the oil spill had nothing to do with national identity. The prime minister stressed the economic importance of BP to the U.K., U.S. and other countries. The president made clear that he had no interest in undermining BP's value.”

Cameron is under pressure to get Obama to tone down the criticism fearing it will hurt the millions of British retirees that hold BP stock. The company's stock has lost 40 percent of its value since the April 20 oil rig fire.

Tone down the criticism? He is dreaming about that.

I was reading this particular article, in addendum to the one about Obummer's talk with Pm Cameron.
The columnist doesn't hold any bars against the supposed - "Great One", and thought this comment was very fitting for this topic ..........

By David Micheal Green - Eurasia Review The Do Nothing 44th President | Opinion

The story is the same back in the Gulf of Mexico, where Obama recently had his very own Michael Dukakis moment. Trying to look tough, like Dukakis did haplessly riding around on that tank in the picture that spoke a million words (and sank a presidential campaign), Obama decided to use a four-letter word to show how serious he is about those mean fellows at BP and their errant flow of oil. Except that this president is so inept that he could only manage three of the requisite four letters. He told NBC’s Matt Lauer that he has been visiting the oil spill region “so I know whose ass to kick”. I mean, raise your hand if you think that that little display of anger for the cameras was about as authentic as Cheese Whiz. And simultaneously both far less and far more cheesy. But it gets worse. It then turns out that during all of the last 45 or so days, the president hasn’t yet had a phone conversation with the CEO of British Petroleum. Turns out Obama traveled all that way to New Orleans and still couldn’t get a postal code for the limey arse to which to fax over his presidential boot.

Like he would use it if he had it, anyhow. Can you imagine the conversation he might have with Tony Hayward?

Obama: “Hey, Tony, your oil spill is really causing me problems, so I thought I’d call to kick your ass a little.”

Hayward: “Screw you, punk. You do what I tell you.”

Obama: “Oh god, you’re right. Christ! Sorry. I forgot myself. For a minute there I thought I was talking to my daughter about her homework.”

Hayward: “Get your facts straight, pal. Starting with who here works for whom.”

Obama: “Yes, sir. Right away, sir. What can we do for you?”

Hayward: “Nothing at all would be perfect, just like you have been doing. Just let us drill where we want, spill where want, thrill as is our wont to the sheer brazenness of our lies, and bill your account for the damages. We’re not greedy we won’t ask for more than that.”

Obama: “You got it, Mr. Hayward. We’ll get right on it. Raaaahhm!!!”

The only thing more grim than the visage of the pathetic Obama administration in non-action is a consideration of the opportunity lost here. Obama had all the cards stacked in his favor, ranging from a destroyed opposition party, to a series of crises, to a public demanding change, to massive majorities in Congress, to global good will. He’s pissed it all away in his unrelenting dedication to mediocrity and inoffensiveness.

Which, imho - I have to totally agree.

W/ what Obummer says and does ........... He's making Jimmy Carter look good!

No doubt. This has become a global issue. Leaders and citizens all over the world are speaking out in criticism of BP. As well they should.

He acts more like a lawyer who uses "rhetoric" than a Leader who uses action.

And what exactly do these quotes have to do with the artice or with Glenn's post? First you complain about his being wishy-washey, then you dig up quotes that indicate assertiveness. And you wonder why no one takes you seriously.:cool2:

Are you implying that an oil spill and lack of leadership isn't serious?

Where exactly do you get this stuff? Try reading what is written and stop looking for hidden implications. You would do a lot better with comprehension that way.

Um so? Would you rather Obama praised BP? How do you think that would go over with world leaders?

It'd be better to actually meet with the BP execs as soon as possible to discuss needs and have a better understanding of what's going on. It'd be better to actually have the audacity to act first and show that the govt is serious in trying to contain the soil spill a few days after the incident rather than wait 40 or 50 days to make a decision. Instead, why not Obama just admit that their govt is not equipped to handle these sorts of catastrophic oil spills? He said the "buck stops with him." And he'll certainly earn that since it's now his oil spill to deal with.

It is no solution, man.

He will meet with the BP executives on Wednesday....

It is no solution, man.

It's better to do these proactively and early on to show people that you're trying to do something rather than to wait70 days later. Waiting around and do nothing is a sure fire no solution action, man.

Proactively plan for an accident. Yeah, right.

It is still no solution and the corporation doesn't give a fuck about anything.
