NY man arrested for trying to harm former President Bush

Reba my real reason? Well I was hoping to meet/marry hot American women who would like to get to communicate with a European Hard of hearing guy.
Right. American women are turned on by guys who insult their country.

If you ever need a tour guide, then I am your man. Fluent in many languages but sadly not ASL. Nobody loves Europe quite like me.
I do use ASL but since I'm hearing I also use spoken English. Since I'm a non-hot granny I don't think that will work out. Thanks anyway.

Reba so no tour of my favourite bars and restaurants in Lyon?
The only travel I'm doing this year is to a family reunion in Connecticut (only 1,000 miles away) this August. The rest of the time I'm busy with my on-line classes.

The restaurants would be interesting but no bars please. I don't drink alcoholic beverages.

If I ever do manage to travel to Europe I would like to check out the Azores, home of an ancestor.

Rockin we can do the whole surrender notion about the French on another thread if you like.

With it being 100 years since the start of WWI it could be a good thread to discuss the French loss of blood in the closing months of 1914. They sent 100,000s of men to early deaths and never contemplated surrender whilst the oh so brave US sat it out on the sidelines waiting to see which side would win so that they could join the winning team. Then you did the same thing in 1939 and only the Japanese attack on pearl harbour and then Hitler's declaration of war reluctantly brought about your late entry.

You were happy to sit by in cowardice and ignore events in Europe as millions died.

Oh and were you aware that the Bush family through their family businesses were one of the biggest lenders to Nazi Germany? That kind of mud should stick but you USAnians were only happy to ignore a family who helped finance the worst genocide in Europe and elect them to the highest office in the land.

Shameless.

whoa. so bitter. why do you expect us to help you?

you were happy to sit by in cowardice and ignore events in Afghanistan and Iraq as thousands of American soldiers are getting blown up. and we certainly weren't expecting anybody to help us because it's our problem.

so you got a problem.... you deal with it yourself. don't force and guilt-trip other people into helping you. that's cowardice. in fact.... it's worse than cowardice.

Exciting times Reba. I have done my main holiday for the year which was a tour of southern Morocco where I jumped on and off buses and then hired a car to go out to the desert and drive the mountain gorges. Looks like I will be back in work from Monday and then I will work solid again with no breaks. If I am lucky I may get access to my kids over the summer.
Ha, my days of jumping off or on anything are over.

But back to Dubya... Since he left office he has been a nobody.
Maybe not on the world scene but to our wounded warriors and others he has been a huge support. He does a lot of good works that don't get press coverage.

I don't understand why people in other countries feel the need to express hatred for America's leaders. I can disagree with the leadership of other counties without feeling any personal animosity for them or their families. What benefit is this hatred?

I admire your patriotic spirit but lets not get carried away. You are only no.2 now in the world and China and India will soon pass you. The EU is the largest economy and biggest exporter in the world. The day when Russia finally joins its European brothers will see us as the dominant global power whilst the USA will be some forgotten backwater.

Nobody in their right mind buys American products. Even Apple no longer has the same appeal and Hollywood has sucked for decades. The best film out of USAnia last year was "Dhoom 3" which was for some reason filmed in Chicago.

Dubya and his fellow Republicans had a glorious plan for a "New American Century" and it all failed so badly in Iraq. You found out that American might can no longer enable you to steal other countries resources. 100,000s of Iraqis needed to die for the Bush administration to realise that nothing can be done to correct the USA's demise.

We are #2? That's incorrect. Fact: We are #1 in GDP.

Your 2nd and 3rd paragraphs are grossly biased. :dunno:

Without US involvement in WW2, you won't survive under Nazi or Stalin rules.

Europe caused WW1 and WW2.

European forces have all been present in Afghanistan. The French Germans, Brits and other European powers.
right. we came to Europe in WWII and liberated ya'all, didn't we?

As for Iraq it was an illegal war and should never have happened. Nation states were right to opt out. The UK should never have been involved and it was an act of deception by Tony Blair that took them into the war.

Now lets look at Dubya....... role back the clocks to May 10th 2005. He is the capital of Georgia visiting one of the strongest partners in the "axis of the willing".

His speech at the time:

BBC NEWS | Europe | Text: Bush's speech in Georgia

but most of all this part
whining, aren't we?

Oh I do dislike George junior though. Worst appointment ever as a result of nepotism/crony-ism. I could have done a better job of running the USA. He was not even half the man his father was and yet got elected for two terms.
You are aware that discussing politics is not permitted here in AD? Just wondering. Bashing Bush was a national pastime here until early 2009. We bash a different guy now. You really need to catch up.

Right, I dislike GWB but it already became past now.

Let GWB enjoy with his life.

Fast forward to August 2008 and Georgian forces are still tied up with the "Axis of the willing" in Iraq and Afghan when Russian tanks roll over their borders and start wholesale looting and destruction.

What was Dubya's reaction? He was at the Olympics partying (all those pictures of him drunk) and somehow had forgotten about his Georgian allies.

Worst President in living memory and a stain on US history.
I'm quite certain you are getting a totally unbiased newsfeed. :giggle:

Good thing you know more than the folks that live here.

Oh wow, someone whine about GWB.

I dislike GWB politically but I'm fine with GWB personally (outside of political). :cool2:

His ranch is big and beautiful.

It's a good thing we don't waste bandwidth on candid pictures of European leaders.

SWK, at least agree he was not up to the job? By all reports he was quite the hellraiser and party animal at college and ran a few successful businesses (you cannot fail with that kind of money behind you).

He was never cut out to be a President as his response to all the crisis during his term in office showed. When the planes hit the Twin Towers he failed to respond immediately and stayed reading a book to school children. Whilst Georgia was invaded he was too busy getting drunk and admiring female posteriors.

Nobody is going to miss him........

Who? There are plenty of people like Bush family.

Political and personal are very different.

Yes there are lots of super rich families in the US who buy their way into political offices. The President though should remain separated from this. Only people with the ability.

GWB showed in office that he was lacking the qualities which are expected. He failed each time there was a crisis. It would be no real loss to the nation if he passed away quietly tomorrow. His father did more for the country.

FYI, I support to limit on corporation's power to influence on our government, but US Supreme Court disagrees with us, unfortunately.
