Doesn't matter. Threatening a former or current US President is a federal felony punishable by years in prison-- possibly decades in a federal penitentiary.

He got caught before he could. Good thing, too, or he likely would've been facing a potential death sentence for murder. Still, though-- the Secret Service does not take kindly to threats against former or current Presidents.

One doesn't require a source to say that something that walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, probably is a duck. If his actions don't scream mental illness, what more would be required to make it any clearer? Seems like yet another incident where a mental health care provider dropped the ball. I'm glad no one was hurt in this case.
 
When has anyone that attempts to shoot another human, (not in the line of duty or self defense) NOT been mentally deranged?

Well...he probably is insane...mentally deranged too...most of us know it's highly impossible to try to kill a President or ex-President with all the security they have....and just to get into the Presidents daughters panties?....
