AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – A union representing Dutch nurses will launch a national campaign Friday against demands for sexual services by patients who claim it should be part of their standard care.

The union, NU'91, is calling the campaign "I Draw The Line Here," with an advert that features a young woman covering her face with crossed hands.

The union said in a statement Thursday that the campaign follows a complaint it had received in the last week from a 24-year-old woman who said a 42-year-old disabled man asked her to provide sexual services as part of his care at home.

The young woman witnessed some of the man's other nurses offering him sexual gratification, the union said. When she refused to do the same, he tried to dismiss her on the grounds that she was unfit to provide care.

"This type of action is not part of the job responsibilities of carers and nurses," NU'91 said.

The case has been reported to police, the union added.

Florence Nightingale is spinning in her grave!!

 I have taken care of some men who seem to think they should get more than medical care.

And to think my nurse got mad when I asked for extra Jello.

I don't think I'm allowed, but a few times I wanted to! I have been grabbed a few times and we are supposed to nicely put them in their place. The main thing that happens is they pretend that they cannot wash themselves, so I have to. Sometimes I just get forceful with them and hand them the washcloth and leave. They creepiest thing are the men who make dirty comments when you wash them! (they can't wash themselves)

Wasn't there a court case some years ago in which nurses were told that patients have a right to sex, and that the nurses have to assist them into positions? Sounds loony, but does anyone remember that?

If the nurses don't like the job, they can go strike with word "sex banned on my job!"

Think it's inappropriate for nurses to do this. They're there to care for the ill not to satisfy patient's sexual gratification. This smacks of prostitution.

Back in Florence Nightingale's time-people thought nurses were the same as prositutes and since then nurses have had to work hard to garner respect from people for their profession.

The disabled man mentioned in article could have called a prositute to come to his place and satisfy his needs or simply go to the red light district.
