I wondering if There are few Deaf work for Nurse and if so, how can they communicate if dont have Hearing aids or C.I.

I am curious... and i'm not trying to start a flame war or ignite any fires here, i'm just curious... without HA or CI, how would you assess lung sounds or manually take a blood pressure? (yes I know there are machines that can take a bp but they have been known to give false readings and can require a manual measurement taken).
 
As an RN who is profoundly deaf, I can answer that question by saying that not all nursing involves the use of a stethescope to assess lung or heart sounds. I work in the OR (yes and without accommodations)and I am good at what I do. However, I do not know of any nurses who have a hearing limitation that does NOT wear HA or CI. Blood pressure can be done manually.

when you say not all nursing requires that, do you mean that there are floors a nurse can work on that do not require it or that there is more to a nurses job than that? Also, i know you can palpate a bp to obtain a systolic but my understanding is that the diastolic can be just as important and that can not be palpated. (at least all the run sheets saying xxx/p say I don't know how)

Well yeah and i heard that Some of equipment like stethescope and others have been easily to use for Deaf. Right now I dont use both since HA dont make me heard anything and CI have much cons for me right now so i hope to get powerful HA either better CI...Im considering to be RN and mostly as Infusion Nurse.
