Not a candidate for CI?

SOme insurance can cover HAs but not 100 percents. My insurance does and I have not use it yet. I rather for my hub to get his CI first to see how much leftover we need to pay.

You're lucky!

Mine does not cover it at all. I think most don't. :(

yea but it is small amount, like insruance can pay 1 thousand then i pay the rest of it. It's better than NONE. I have not use it yet, i was suppose to get a new HA this summer but my hub lost his CI. SO i let him get CI first. I can wait since my HA is still working. I only want a new HA.

Yeah, but that don't make sense. CI can cost $20,000-$40,000. HA cost $500.00 -- $4,000.00.

Cost of Cochlear Implants

I know. Go figure!

Actually, there is some math here - the average price around $2k x how many people? A LOT more than those getting CIs.

Anyways, it is what it is. Most don't cover HAs. Hopefully that will change significantly in the near future. Mine have never, ever been covered despite several different insurance companies over the years.

I paid $998.00 for my two brand new BTE digital superpower hearing aids. Insurance gave me nothing. I paid it all out of the pocket.

You got an incredible price. I don't know your level of db loss, but the higher powered the aid is, the more $$, generally. (There's other price variations for other reasons.)

There are x's all the way straight across on 110 (db) from 250hz - 8000hz.

There are o's straight across on 80 (db), almost at 90, from 250hz -- 4000hz. At 4000hz it drops off, slopes down.

I know almost nothing about audiograms, but thats what I see on mine. My audiogram btw, goes from -10 to 110.

I forgot to mention that with my aids I also, included in the price .. not extra, got 4 tubings, 4 open fit molds, 8 packages of #675 batteries with 6 batteries in each package so ... 48 or so individual batteries.

Thank you for asking. I don't really like CI, but I want to be able to have a conversation and use a voice phone. That would be the main reason for CI. I wouldn't go all the trouble to get CI just to hear birds sing or people walking around.

If you don't like CI, then don't go for it. It sounds like you have a high expectation for CI, you will be very disappointed if it didn't quite measure up to your expections.

I took my free hearing test. I scored like 110-120 across the audiogram. Not sure if hearing aids will help, but I am willing to try.

Medicaid covered the full cost of my Naida IX UP (I have no clue how much my audie charged them for it or how much it cost but they covered it 100%, maybe cause I only got 1 and not 2?).

Talk with an audiologist, and see if you can trial some hearing aids to see if they'll help you any.
