NEVER AGAIN MOVE DOWN TO NORTH CAROLINA! I moved down there in 1995 and in 7 months I can't stand NC, and end up move back to New Yawk! All because of lack deaf community down there. That time I didn't have any family of my own. Now that I have family of my own, then NC won't be big deal anyway. Really NC is idealic for family people, rather than singles.

Im sorry to say this, deaf community down there is rotten as hell. I can't say if they are the worst of all.

Speaking for employment, expect mroe discrimination down there than up here!

The only thing thats nice down there is plenty of acreage properties you could buy.

Glad you replied neg cuz i need to see the balance cons/pos.
but i had this some kind of feeling about NC myself too, (neg ) ...

everyone else, Any pos ?? or more cons ??

Thanks!

Since your from New Yawk, expect culture shock down there! They are completely different from us.

Too many list to go on, BUT one thing you could easily notice once you enter North Carolina is that here in New Yawk, you won't have trouble finding bars than church, but down there in NC you will have more trouble finding bars than church!

Im not advocating those bars. BUT, my point is its noticeable how different culture between these two states.

I had friends coming over during winter time in February. They all said Im nuts not turning on the heater. I said, it is NOT that cold! 62 degrees is very comfortable for me. They all wear coats! wow! That is one positive thing is that they don't get that cold comparing to up here. BUT they can get EXTREMELY HOT! MUST HAVE AN AIR CONDITIONER

You pay property taxes on vehicles you own in NC!!! Thats another neg about them.

I know of at least one New Yorker who moved to NC and loves it. She's a terrific girl, doesn't go to church that I know of, but otherwise is deeply involved in the deaf and hard of hearing community. She won't ever move back to NY because of the traffic, the people, and the speed of life there.

The only thing she really misses about NY was the ability to get any kind of food you want whenever you want -- the variety of food is slightly smaller in Raleigh, NC than NY City. She misses sushi, for one. Beyond that, NC is where she's gonna stay.

Well, Im speaking for central North Carolina where I once moved to.

I have heard good stuff about Raleigh/durham BUT I still hate NC forever. Got bad experience.
