I read the Bible (FREE in ASL on-line! Deaf Missions: Home) I prefer many different versions.

and new book: Beyond the Soiled Curtain. It's about India and their "sex trade" (forced prostitution) Wow- very surprising and sad.

Back in the days when I *actually read books* the movies would be so disappointing... Nothing like the book... The book allows you to visualize the images, movies just place them there.

I found that out with Stephen King's The Shining. The book is much better than the movie. The part in the book really had me scared is where the boy heard the snow being fallen off the bushes that had been shaped as lions. The "lions" became animated and started chasing the boy on the snowmobile. Nothing like that in the movie.

I just finished Sue Grafton's lastest in her alphabet mystery series, T is for Trespass. This one was much better than the last few.

I have that book and Patterson's 7th Heaven. They are sitting there while I am trying to finish reading "When the Mind Hears". That book is fat so it is going to take me awhile.

The film adaptation of 'The Shining' was a very different take on the story. It's an entirely different movie when compared to the novel. Actually, the movie itself is pretty good when you don't compare it to the novel since it isn't faithful to the core.

A more accurate version of the novel would be the TV movie they aired on ABC back in the late 90s. But it is pretty weak.

Always check my sig to get an update on what I have read, what I am reading now, and what I will be reading next. Just so you know.

I have read all books Grisham, King, Koontz, and Grafton, except for Sue grafton's lastest book, "T". I have collected all of John Grisham (and his movies), Sue Grafton's "A" to "S."

I have all Stephen King's books. Stephen King's Storm of the Century was the first book written that played the excat same as in the movie-first of his screenplay novel. I hope one of King's book, Cell will be in a movie. I wonder if it will be as long as the movie, The Stand....The worst movie I even seen was Cujo and will not see it again, hahaha...

I have read Patricia Cornwell and Karin Slaughter and have all their books. They are hard to put down. And Kay Hoopers, Iris Johnsen, Diana Gabladon, Jude Deveraux, Julie Garwood, Nicholas Sparks, oh too many to name...Got them all...I have so many favorite authors.

Since I am out of all books and do not know what to read next since I have all of their books in my collection...I picked up Debbie Macomber's books (I picked up three of her books) and I enjoyed one of her book, Susannah's Garden. Not bad...I rather have horror or suspense....oh well...

Everytime I visit Walmart, Barnes & Nobles even any food store, I always pick up a book before heading out to the cashier asles. I took that from my mother, I followed my mother's footsteps. My mother and I love books and addict to books of any kind... She collected over 5,000 paperbacks and 10,000 hardcovers--but she had to recount because she sold her books due to selling the house to move South. I collect over 1,000 paperbacks (but planning to give some away to my daughter since she loves V.C. Andrews and Jude Deveraux) and 2,000 hardcovers or maybe 3,000...still counting...maybe mine will be added to my and her collection real soon since I am sending one of my 9 novels real soon.

I hated Cell with a deep passion. I can't tell you why I didn't trash it while reading the junk story but for some miracle I labored through it and finished the worse novel I have ever read; and to think I spend money on it too. :pissed:

During mid year, I have The Stand scheduled (I have a book list in order per year) for my reading enjoyment. It's a big sucker too- many pages. But I can't wait to get on it. All say it is his best but I want to see if it tops the Dark Tower series. Those are my favorite.

I just came back from the Goodwill Store and purchased a couple of good books for a few pennies:

  • Three Junes by Julia Glass
  • The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald

I'm hoping sometime in the next few months I might be able to do some "social reading" as well ...

This is a great thread because it deals with books you are currently reading. I expanded the scope by creating another book thread. This new corner of AD you can not only list your most recently purchased books (fiction and non-fiction) but you can also write your own reviews on the books you enjoyed most. Hey AquaBlue ... just to clarify (incase your post was directed at me somehow?) - the books I listed ARE what I'm currently reading.

They aren't a reading list ( my required reading list is 27books by the end of the month) ... or recently purchased book list (which would be some 15books this past month) ...
