Anyone else here bimodal?
I Have one BTE Oticon hearing aid on left and a CI - advanced bionic on the right.
the left w/the hearing aid was working great and the CI & HA combo was so acoustic for several years...but now the left is getting worse and I think Im ready to be implanted a second time.
---Oh and these posts about the way a CI is supposed to sound so don't go and get one is BS.
It is the brain who forgot what a certain sound wavelength is and how it teaches itself to learn that sound all over again. Things that are first mechanical sounding with a CI can end up soothing, if you let your brain learn it!

I'm bimodal. AB CI in the left ear (just recently got it, been activated for 10 days now), and Phonak Naida BTE in the right ear. If I'm already wearing the HA in the right ear, and I put the CI processor on, it's like the hearing with the HA drops down, but I figured it was just my brain trying to balance out the sounds coming into both ears, except with the CI it's just noise (electronic tones, not the actual sounds). Very weird stuff!

CDM.
It wasnt until 3 months after I was implanted that the HA would work with my CI and produce a very acoustic sound....your brain is still learning the 'new ways'...its going to take time and patience. JohnsHopkins didnt activate me until 1 month after surgery.
10 days after I imagine your head is still healing?

no I meant my implant has only been turned on for about 12 days. I had the surgery done March 21, activation was April 3. I think I might go up to program 3 tomorrow, not sure if program 2 is quite cutting it at the moment haha. The brain is very interesting in how it works trying to figure things out and all that. I just take it 1 day at a time and letting the brain figure things out.
